Do you want to work at the intersection of innovation, industry, and defense capability? We are now looking for a Project Manager for a strategically important project aimed at strengthening the link between innovation and operational military capability.
About the role
For the past year, the staff within the Business Area Test and Evaluation has been responsible for the Battle Week (https://www.fmv.se/foretag-och-samarbete/innovation-och-finansiering/battleweek/) project, with the aim of establishing a long-term forum that makes more industrial capacity available and shortens the time from innovation and ideas to actual capability in the Swedish Armed Forces' units.
The project is a recurring test and demonstration week where companies have the opportunity to show how their products and services can contribute to military capability by solving concrete military challenges. Together with end-users and experts, solutions are tested and demonstrated at FMV's test sites – this can involve complete systems, subsystems, or individual components. The focus is on function, effect, and actual utility for Sweden's defense.
In the role, you will initially focus entirely on project management. You will be responsible for planning, driving, and following up on the project from idea to implementation, ensuring that the work maintains the correct quality, budget, and schedule. You will also work with analyses, reporting, decision support, and project documentation. The role involves close collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders, including the project team within FMV, other defense agencies, and industry, where you are responsible for coordination, communication, and progress in complex project environments.
In the long term, there is an opportunity for the role to develop into a more advisory function within the staff, where you contribute with qualified support in matters of a strategic and operational nature.
The position is located in Stockholm, and business travel occurs both domestically and internationally.
About you
We are looking for you who have a relevant academic degree, officer training, or equivalent competence acquired in another way that we assess as equivalent. You also have project management training or equivalent knowledge acquired in another way.
Furthermore, you have relevant experience in independently driving and executing complex tasks, as well as relevant experience in leading projects in a project format, including responsibility for project staff and deliveries against set goals. For the role, you are also required to have experience with budgeting, good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written, and good proficiency in working with the Office package. Since business travel occurs frequently, a valid driver's license (Category B) is also required.
It is meritorious if you have knowledge of or experience from the defense sector and work with defense materiel. We would like you to have worked with project planning tools such as MS Project or similar systems. Experience of public procurement, negotiations, business development, and work within the public sector, especially state operations, is also seen as an advantage.
Personal qualities are of great importance to us. We welcome applicants with different backgrounds and experiences and are looking for you who have natural leadership in your working style and who enjoy taking responsibility and creating structure in complex contexts. You have good problem-solving analytical skills and can quickly familiarize yourself with issues and find constructive solutions. Furthermore, you are goal- and result-oriented and work focused towards set goals even in changing environments. You have good collaboration skills and contribute actively to joint efforts, while also being flexible and adapting easily to new situations.
