Welcome to Älvsbyn: Älvåkra School and Park School! As a music teacher, you have a shared role where you teach music at both the middle school (grades 4-6) and upper secondary school (grades 7-9) levels, with your main responsibility at the middle school level. Teaching in adapted primary education is also included in the position. All music teaching takes place at Älvåkra School, which is the upper secondary school. Älvåkra School is a primary school with students in grades 7-9. In total, there are approximately 260 students at the school. Park School houses the middle school in the central town, where approximately 240 students attend. Both schools are centrally located, meaning that sports halls, ice rinks, swimming pools, ski tracks, football fields, athletics facilities, and nature are just around the corner, while also being close to the community center with the main library, meeting rooms, bowling alleys, and more.

Responsibilities

The position is organized in close collaboration with the upper secondary school's music teachers, where teaching is parallel-arranged to enable work in half-classes. You can share student groups, which creates good prerequisites for more individualized teaching and strengthens the students' opportunities to reach as far as possible in their knowledge development.

You will become part of a subject collaboration where you together plan, implement, and follow up on teaching. Through the collaboration, you contribute to creating a clear progression and a red thread in music teaching through middle and upper secondary school.

You will also be responsible for leading and organizing common traditions, such as Lucia celebrations and school graduations, and you collaborate with other educators in both subject teams and work teams. You actively contribute to the school's overall development and take responsibility for ensuring that students reach as far as possible in their knowledge development. The prerequisites for music teaching are good and are conducted in suitable premises.

Qualifications

You have a teaching license with eligibility to teach music in the later years of primary school. You are a clear leader who actively works for safety and study peace in a creative classroom where students are made participatory. You teach in an inspiring way and engage with the students and their goals.

You understand the importance of creating good relationships with young people and have a low-affective approach characterized by trust in the students. You are prepared to reflect together with colleagues on your and others' attitudes and approaches. Good insight into the school's mission and knowledge of current regulations are prerequisites. Great importance is attached to personal suitability.

The position is a permanent full-time (100%) employment with a start date of 2026-08-12. We may apply a probationary period upon new employment.
