Epidemiologist with interest in data and methodology sought for SRHR unit at the Centre for Epidemiology and Community Medicine, SLSO

Do you want to strengthen the region's work on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), with a focus on the epidemiological work related to this? We are looking for you who have extensive knowledge in epidemiology and a strong interest in leading epidemiological projects as well as developing future databases for epidemiological surveillance and analysis within SRHR.

We offer

The Centre for Epidemiology and Community Medicine (CES) is part of Region Stockholm. We contribute to good and equitable public health through analyses, knowledge bases, and support for healthcare and other public health actors. At our centre, you work closely with academia, especially Karolinska Institutet, and have the opportunity to develop in a qualified role. You can read more about us at Centre for Epidemiology and Community Medicine.

We value a good balance between work and private life. We apply flexible working hours, have a generous wellness allowance, and offer free healthcare within primary care. You can read more about this at Benefits at Stockholm County Council.

About the position and your role

The SRHR unit is responsible for the region's public health work within SRHR. The work is characterized by an "end-to-end" approach where epidemiological mapping and needs analyses are at one end, while interventions, measures, and implementation are at the other. We are now seeking reinforcement to conduct analyses of women's health and other SRHR subject areas, as well as to develop our databases for epidemiological surveillance and analysis within SRHR.

The tasks are varied and include quantitative data analysis and compilation, producing knowledge bases, and project management of database development work. We are looking for you who have a personal interest in data management and quantitative data issues and how they can be used to improve public health. You will collaborate closely with the unit manager, statisticians, and colleagues within the unit. You provide advice on epidemiological study design and support colleagues in their work.

The work requires that you can switch between tasks, that you actively and independently seek information relevant to the tasks, and that you can collaborate both internally within the unit and with other units at CES, as well as externally with relevant cooperation partners. CES operates university hospital services with good opportunities for participating in research.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who:

  • have a PhD in epidemiology or a related quantitative field (e.g., biostatistics, medical science with a quantitative focus, or health data science).
  • have extensive practical experience in analyzing large Swedish national health registers — such as the Medical Birth Register, Patient Register, Prescribed Drug Register, Cancer Register, Cause of Death Register, and LISA — including the linkage of registers via personal identity number.
  • are an advanced programmer in at least one of the programs SAS, R, or Stata, write clean and reproducible code, and are accustomed to working with datasets comprising millions of records.

Meritorious / Strong plus

  • Experience with database design.
  • Good proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written.

We place great emphasis on personal qualities.

Employment type:

Permanent position. Full-time 100%. Probation period may apply. Start date by agreement.

Other information:

We will continuously review applications and may call for interviews before the application deadline.

We look forward to receiving your application!

The position is filled on the condition that it does not need to be taken for internal reassignment, according to current regulations.

In patient-related work within the Stockholm County Council (SLSO):

  • Requires, in addition to Swedish professional licensure, good knowledge of the Swedish language corresponding to level C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The same requirements are guiding for non-licensed staff with patient contact.

Stockholm County Council (SLSO) is one of Sweden's largest healthcare providers with 11,600 employees. We offer healthcare under the auspices of Region Stockholm within psychiatry, primary care, geriatrics, ASIH, near-acute care, somatic specialist care, habilitation and health, and assistive devices.
