Are you an analytical person with a strong interest in the information environment, looking to work in a dynamic workplace, develop in your role, and make a difference? We are now looking for an Analyst for a fast-paced environment within a growing organization with an important mission.

About the Section

The Analysis and Development Section belongs to the Communications Department of the Defence Staff at the Swedish Armed Forces Headquarters. The section consists of 17 employees and is responsible, among other things, for deliveries focusing on information operations, environmental monitoring, analysis, situational awareness and situation pictures, NATO integration, and functional development.

Main Responsibilities

In this position, you will join the section's analysis group, where you will both be responsible for your own projects and work in a team. Your tasks will include monitoring news flows in various types of media, conducting environmental monitoring, producing situation pictures for the information environment, and carrying out analyses to support the Swedish Armed Forces' operational and strategic activities. You will work with a rapidly changing environment that requires good insight into the information environment, media logic, and human behavior. Since the Swedish Armed Forces are undergoing significant transformation, you will also participate in development and change initiatives within your subject area.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field for the position.
  • Current and relevant experience in analyzing complex information and producing understandable decision support materials.
  • Current and relevant experience in environmental monitoring, the information environment, media monitoring, and/or producing situation pictures.
  • Good ability to communicate in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing.

Merits

  • Current and relevant work experience in, for example, media monitoring or media analysis.
  • Current and relevant knowledge of social media and media monitoring tools, e.g., Retriver, Talkwalker, Notified.
  • Current and relevant experience working within a larger authority or organization.
  • Current and relevant knowledge of the Swedish Armed Forces' operational and/or strategic organization and activities.
  • Current and relevant knowledge of NATO's organization and activities.
  • Good knowledge of the Russian language and a good understanding of Russia and Russian culture.

Personal Attributes

As an analyst, you should be an unpretentious person who is flexible, meticulous, and solution-oriented. You have high social competence and collaborate easily with colleagues. Your communication skills are good, meaning you are receptive as well as clear in your interactions. Additionally, it is important that you can structure your work well. We work in an event-driven operation, which means you need the ability to switch between planned and rapidly emerging tasks.

Great emphasis will be placed on your personal suitability.

Other Information

The position is civilian.

As an employee of the Swedish Armed Forces, participation in exercises, standby service, and potentially national and international deployments is included.

Place of work: Stockholm.

Start date: As soon as possible.

Employment type: Permanent employment starting with a 6-month probationary period.

Tests may be conducted during the recruitment process.

The Chief of Defence and the Director General are located at the Headquarters. The Headquarters has approximately 1,000 employees – both professional officers and civilian experts. As of 2023-01-01, the Headquarters consists of the Defence Staff, the Operations Command, the Military Intelligence and Security Service, as well as the Headquarters' Staff Department and independent oversight units.

Employment with us involves placement in a security classification. Swedish citizenship is usually required. Security clearance with register check will be conducted prior to employment according to Chapter 3 of the Security Protection Act. Employment entails an obligation to be war-placed.
