Are you passionate about knowledge, quality, and societal benefit? SBU is growing and needs more people who want to contribute to a more knowledge-based social services sector. The Unit for Interventions for Individuals, Families, and Society, within the Department for Social Services, is now recruiting researchers for socially important assignments within the field of social services.
The Swedish Council on Health Technology Assessment and Assessment of Social Services (SBU) is a knowledge agency under the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs tasked with conducting scientific evaluations of methods within healthcare, including dental care. SBU is also tasked with conducting scientific evaluations of interventions within social services and interventions supported by the LSS Act (Act on Support and Service for Certain Disabled Persons). At SBU, collaboration is the foundation for a positive work environment and the core of our daily operations and product quality. The agency has just over 100 employees.
Unit Description
The unit consists of 10 employees and is led by a unit manager. The unit works on both government mandates and self-initiated projects within the field of social services. We evaluate interventions for children and young people, individuals in vulnerable situations, and interventions to strengthen families and parenthood. We develop knowledge on implementation and phase-out, organizational aspects, and community-based interventions. The unit's work includes disseminating target-group-specific knowledge within our subject area through various channels.
Job Responsibilities
As a researcher at SBU, you work together with project managers in the development of knowledge summaries and other scientifically based materials. You function as project support and actively contribute to qualified parts of the project work. You work in cross-professional teams together with project managers, information specialists, and health economists, and collaborate with researchers, other agencies, interest organizations, and professionals.
Your responsibilities include, among other things:
- Supporting the project manager in planning and implementing projects according to SBU's methodology.
- Contributing to the quality assurance of knowledge materials via SBU's internal processes and external experts.
- Participating in the coordination of analyses as well as ethical and other aspects relevant to the assignment.
- Making results accessible and communicating them via reports, summaries, presentations, and the web.
- Contributing to internal development work and training initiatives within the subject area.
Qualifications
- An academic degree in social work, sociology, public health, criminology, anthropology, political science, or another area that the agency considers equivalent.
- Experience in research or project work, preferably with multiple stakeholders.
- Experience in interpreting and compiling scientific literature.
- Very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
Merits
- Subject knowledge in one or more of the unit's central areas, such as family interventions, crime prevention interventions, violence exposure, harmful use and addiction, work and livelihood, homelessness, implementation, etc.
- Experience in knowledge-based work at a government agency.
- Experience working with systematic reviews.
- Experience in implementation research.
- A doctoral degree in a field relevant to the unit.
Personal Qualities
As a person, you communicate easily and build trusting relationships, and you have good pedagogical skills. The work requires that you are meticulous, flexible, and team-oriented, and that you have the ability to work both independently and in a group. You thrive in a varied role and have high personal integrity.
What We Offer
At SBU, you get to make a difference for society and welfare. Here you have the chance to engage with research and work together with competent and engaged colleagues in a pleasant work climate. We are located in bright premises in central Stockholm, with the possibility of remote work up to two days per week if operations allow, a generous wellness allowance, and 1.5 hours of wellness time per week during working hours.
Scope and Start Date
This is a permanent full-time position (100%). SBU applies a 6-month probationary period. Start date by agreement.
