Do you want to work with international projects and contribute to The City Mission's global work? We are now looking for an Economy and Audit Coordinator with a focus on our international department!
Scope: Temporary position at 80%, as agreed.
As an Economy and Audit Coordinator, you will have an important enabling role in The City Mission's vital work, in a creative and international environment.
About the role
You will become an important part of The City Mission's economics team and work operationally with budgeting and follow-up of projects. The role is divided between international projects and other operations, giving you both specialist knowledge and breadth.
You will work closely with our international department on financial planning, budgeting, and financial control for projects funded by the EU, Sida, the Swedish Institute, and other international donors. You will be actively involved throughout the entire implementation of the projects, from budgeting to follow-up and reporting.
Our international department has grown rapidly in recent years and consists of an engaged team working together with local partner organizations that share our values. It is a dynamic work environment characterized by development, learning, and variety, where both passion and professionalism permeate the operations.
You will be responsible for developing and implementing anti-corruption systems within international projects, including monitoring and compliance with procedures among partner organizations.
You will also relieve economic controllers in other projects and contribute to budgeting, forecasting, follow-up, and audit work.
The role of Economy and Audit Coordinator involves significant responsibility and variety, meaning that with a non-hierarchical attitude, you can work with everything from ongoing administrative tasks to strategic work and educational initiatives. In this role, you will combine international work with insight into The City Mission's broad operations.
More about the duties
In the role, you will work closely with the Head of International Relations, Program Manager, and Economic Controllers. Among other things, you will:
- Prepare and follow up on budgets for international projects (EU, Sida, Swedish Institute, etc.) and ensure they meet the donors' requirements.
- Work with budget revisions, reporting, and financial assessments of partner organizations in various parts of the world.
- Conduct controls and audits of project accounts and audit reports.
- Relieve controllers in budgeting, forecasting, follow-up, and audit work for other projects.
- Participate in monthly closing and ongoing economic processes.
- Provide support to project managers and partners on economic issues and contribute to training on financial procedures.
- Develop and implement anti-corruption systems within international projects, including monitoring of procedures and compliance among partner organizations. Plan and conduct anti-corruption training for both internal employees and external partners, and support partners in improving their procedures and capacity regarding anti-corruption.
Qualifications
- University education in economics or a similar field.
- At least 3–5 years of experience in project-based economic administration, preferably within the non-profit sector.
- Documented experience working with international donors, especially the EU and Sida.
- Experience in financial follow-up, control, or auditing.
- Experience in planning and conducting training.
- Experience working with anti-corruption is an advantage.
- Good knowledge of Excel and economic systems.
- Very good Swedish and English in speech and writing.
- Opportunity and willingness to travel a couple of times per year.

Work distribution and collaboration
You will be part of the economics department and report to the Head of Economics. You will collaborate closely with the international department and be responsible for dialogue with partner organizations regarding financial issues, report auditing, and training in anti-corruption and economics.

Employment conditions: Temporary position 80 %, starting mid-August 2026, due to parental leave. The temporary position is planned to last approximately 12 months, but may be extended or ended earlier depending on the return of the regular employee. The position is covered by a collective agreement between Fremia and Unionen/Academic Professionals. The role has goal-directed working hours and is primarily based on-site at The City Mission, as presence and collaboration with the operations are important.
