Our research group specializes in the synthesis and optimization of a wide spectrum of porous materials, including porous oxides, zeolites, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs), and more. We are now looking for a research assistant to join our group. As a research assistant, you will be responsible for conducting experimental research in the development of mixed metal oxides and metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with narrow pores as effective photocatalysts.
Responsibilities
Typical tasks include the synthesis and characterization (e.g., X-ray diffraction, IR spectroscopy, electron microscopy, and gas adsorption) of solid oxides and metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), as well as collaboration with other researchers on photocatalytic reactions using MOF materials. The role also involves assisting other researchers with experiments in related research areas.
Qualifications
To be employed as a teaching assistant, you must be admitted to and registered in a basic or advanced level program. The employment may correspond to a maximum of 50% of full-time work and is regulated by Chapter 5 of the Higher Education Ordinance.

We also expect good results in courses related to materials technology or mechanical engineering.
Requirements for this position:
- Good grades in courses in inorganic, organic, or analytical chemistry.
- Strong skills in laboratory work and data analysis.
- Very good organizational skills.
- Good written and spoken English proficiency.
- Experience in the synthesis and characterization of MOF materials, particularly for the adsorption of pollutants.
Desirable / Merits
Documented experience in research communication, or a willingness to contribute to the group’s research communication through the use of social media.
