What does the unit do?

The ANDTS Prevention Unit works for the development and dissemination of knowledge in the ANDTS sector (alcohol, drugs, doping, tobacco and nicotine products, and gambling).

We do this, among other things, by compiling, analyzing, and spreading knowledge about the use and harms of ANDTS, and about how effective preventive work can be conducted.

We work for national coordination in the ANDTS sector. The purpose of the coordination is, among other things, to support the implementation of ANDTS policy, and to contribute to dialogue, collaboration, and exchange of experience between actors whose activities are significant in reducing the use and harms of ANDTS.

The unit produces materials and reports to the EU, UN, WHO, and other international bodies, and serves as the contact point for the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation (Europol) regarding drugs (often referred to as EUDA in Swedish contexts, though technically distinct, here referring to the liaison role).

Our main target groups are county administrative boards and municipalities, but also regions, agencies, and civil society.
