Do you want to strengthen Sweden's defense capability? The Swedish Armed Forces are experiencing strong growth, as is the Naval Staff. We offer a developmental role as an Export Control Officer for the Navy. As an Export Control Officer, you will be part of the preparatory section within the Naval Materiel Office at the Naval Staff. The Export Control Officers provide support and guidance within the Navy's operations and processes throughout the entire lifecycle of the materiel. As an Export Control Officer, you have a special responsibility to ensure that the Navy's materiel is handled correctly from an export control perspective.

Export Control

Export control refers to the laws and regulations governing the export and proliferation of strategically sensitive products. The purpose of export control is to prevent the spread of strategically sensitive products, technologies, and services to unwanted recipients, which in turn contributes to strengthening national and international security. Export control covers not only cross-border transactions but can also be relevant for transfers within the country or between different parts of the same organization. The products and technologies covered by export control are primarily military equipment (KM), dual-use products (PDA), and associated technical assistance.

Main Duties

As an Export Control Officer, you will:

  • Develop and manage export control within the Navy's various missions and operations.
  • Collaborate closely with various functions at the Naval Staff, materiel system managers, technical system leaders, and naval units.
  • Support units in the area of export control prior to exercises and deployments.
  • Provide preparatory support to managers, technical system leaders, production coordinators, and naval units throughout the materiel's lifecycle.
  • Support various export control-related permits and license applications.
  • Participate in the follow-up and development of Naval technical support system processes, e.g., in Teamcenter and PRIO.
  • Participate in the Defense Staff's working groups regarding Export Control and act as a contact point for other branches of the military and forces within the Swedish Armed Forces.
  • Be able to train actors within the Navy in export control.

The work is varied and requires integrity, analytical skills, and good teamwork abilities. You will have internal contacts as well as with external manufacturers, suppliers, and other authorities. The position involves business travel, primarily within Sweden. Collaboration with other parts of the Swedish Armed Forces takes place, among other places, in Karlskrona and Gothenburg.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • University education or education deemed equivalent by the Swedish Armed Forces.
  • Previous documented experience in administrative and structured work.
  • Experience in processing, structuring, and following up on cases.
  • Good knowledge of parts of the Office package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in both Swedish and English.
  • Category B driver's license.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certified Export Control Manager through the Swedish Export Control Association.
  • Experience from export control activities within authorities or companies.
  • Experience in handling master data and administration data within authorities or companies.
  • Experience working in business systems SAP/Teamcenter.
  • Knowledge of naval technical systems.
  • Experience with Vidar.

Employment type: Permanent, six-month probationary period for those not already employed by the authority.

Work location: Muskö. The Naval Staff offers a commuter bus from central Stockholm to Muskö with several stops along the way.

Leading for a stronger defense aims to increase robustness, simplify command and control relationships, and increase the conditions for mission tactics through decentralization of mandates and responsibilities. As part of this work, the Swedish Armed Forces have organized a Naval Staff to lead the Naval units. The Naval Staff is established in Muskö in Haninge Municipality.

An employment with us involves placement in a security class. Swedish citizenship is usually required. Security clearance with register check will be conducted prior to employment according to Chapter 3 of the Security Protection Act. The meaning of this varies depending on the type of position.
