We offer you a welcoming workplace where people and innovations can grow. Welcome to meaningful work where you can truly make a difference!

The Municipal Executive Office is responsible for the leadership and coordination of all municipal operations.

The administration includes units for administrative services, personnel, finance, communications, societal leadership, and IT.

You will join our team of 20 on the IT department, which provides support to all municipal operations. The operations are divided into two groups that work together: operations and support, where you will be part of the operations group.

Karlskoga Municipality works with competence-based recruitment aimed at seeing each person's skills and thereby combating discrimination.

Why Karlskoga Municipality?

Here you get the best of two worlds: the complexity of a large organization and the speed of an engaged team. You will become part of a group of senior system engineers where we share knowledge and laughter. Since the role is new, you will have great opportunities to choose which technical tools and methods we should use to stay ahead in a challenging external environment.

"We are looking for someone who not only knows how to write the policy, but also knows which button to press to make it a reality in the system."

RESPONSIBILITIES

Are you a system engineer who wants to build the secure IT environment of the future? Karlskoga Municipality is now seeking a technical pillar who wants to combine the role of system engineer with overall responsibility for our IT security work. This is a unique opportunity for you who love technology but also want the mandate to design and implement robust security solutions from scratch.

Your role is the bridge between technology and security

In this position, you are not just a theorist – you are an operational system engineer focused on hardening our infrastructure. You will work closely with our team of senior technicians where your expertise will be crucial for how we secure our systems moving forward.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Hardening & Operations: Practical work configuring and securing our IT environment (Microsoft 365, Azure, networks, and server environments).
  • Technical Implementation: Translating requirements from NIS2 and ISO 27002 into actual technical solutions and configurations.
  • Vulnerability Management: Proactively identifying technical flaws through scans and analyses, and addressing them together with the team.
  • Consulting: Acting as the technical bridge to the business units and helping managers understand the technical risks in their systems.
  • Incident Response: Acting as a technical expert during IT-related security incidents and driving the technical investigation work.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is fundamentally a confident system engineer and has relevant education or experience working with security issues in a public sector environment or security-critical operations. Good understanding of crisis preparedness, security protection, and collaboration with internal and external actors.

You have the ability to work both operationally and systematically with security-related issues, as well as a communicative and pedagogical approach, with the ability to create engagement and consensus.

You have several years of experience as a system engineer or infrastructure consultant, preferably with a focus on Microsoft's ecosystem (Active Directory, Azure/Entra ID, Intune).

Other requirements:

  • A driver's license (Category B) is required.
  • Fluent in Swedish and English, as the role involves significant documentation and contact with internal and external parties.
  • Experienced in collaborating with managers and different functions within the organization, with high integrity and good judgment in handling sensitive matters.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Networking Competence: Good understanding of network security, segmentation, and firewall management.
  • Security Focus: Experience with practical security work such as log analysis, encryption, and access control.
  • Analytical Ability: You can perform technical risk and vulnerability analyses and translate them into practical action.

Employment Type: Permanent.
Duration: Permanent.

If you have protected personal data, you should not register your application documents in our recruitment system. Instead, contact PA-support (HR Department) tel: 0586-610 55 for further handling.

Probationary period may apply.
