We are looking for an Assistant Project Manager specializing in Contaminated Sites (RMÅ) for the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket).

This is a consultancy assignment based at one of Trafikverket's offices in Malmö, Luleå, or Umeå.

The assignment covers approximately 60–70% of full-time hours.

The role involves close collaboration with the client, requiring high flexibility and strong teamwork skills.

The Assignment

As an Assistant Project Manager for Contaminated Sites at Trafikverket, you will support project managers in the implementation of environmental technical investigations. The role involves acting as an extension of the project manager, contributing both administratively and operationally to projects, with responsibility for coordination, follow-up, and quality assurance.

Responsibilities

• Project support for targeted environmental measures and participation as an assistant project manager in consultancy investigations regarding contaminated sites.
• Act as an extension of the project manager (Trafikverket employee), where task distribution is case-by-case, and the role may be administrative or operational/technical depending on the assignment.
• Familiarize yourself with current objects, participate in kick-off meetings, and be able to represent Trafikverket independently.
• Collaborate with other units within Trafikverket and support contacts related to assignments.
• Manage permissions in Trafikverket's system for assignment consultants.
• Assist environmental specialists with project-related tasks such as minute-taking, meeting support, invoice handling, economic and delivery follow-up, scheduling, decision-making, and dialogue with consultants and other stakeholders.
• Participate in coordination between stakeholders to ensure efficient execution of assignments according to current agreements.
• Travel to current projects and investigation areas as needed.
• Independently review documents such as sampling plans, PRIOR assessments, result reports, and risk assessments, and compare them against requirements and guidelines.
• Make quick decisions and have a good understanding of the consequences of decisions.
• Assist in contact with supervisory authorities, including reporting results and dialogue as needed.
• Ensure that results are reported into Trafikverket's system for contaminated sites and that external communication is registered.
• Perform other tasks related to the management of contaminated sites as needed.
• Prepare materials for tender documents as client support.

Requirements (Mandatory)

• At least five (5) years of experience in the role of assignment manager, assistant assignment manager, or case handler within contaminated sites on the consultancy side, or as a project manager within contaminated sites on the client side. It is important that the work has been focused on leading and driving assignments. Roles as environmental support or TA-environment are not accepted.
• Education in project management/assignment management. The education may have been conducted as internal training or through external courses. The scope must have been at least half a day.
• Education in ABK09. The education may have been conducted as internal training or through external courses. The scope must have been at least half a day.
• At least three years of higher education or university degree in natural sciences or technical education focused on environment/nature, 180 ECTS credits.
• Category B driver's license.
• Experience in leading, planning, and conducting environmental technical investigations and simpler risk assessments within contaminated sites, equivalent to at least three completed assignments in the role of project manager, assignment manager, assistant assignment manager, or case handler (not solely environmental support/TA-environment), including assignments of at least approx. 200,000 SEK, performed according to current industry practice and guidelines from e.g., the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency or the Swedish Geotechnical Institute, with experience in investigating both soil and water and evaluating results against general reference values.
• Fluent Swedish in speech and writing.

Meritorious

• You have worked as a resource consultant or been employed for at least one year, with a scope of at least 50%, with a public client. The tasks should have included project management of investigations and/or measures at contaminated sites. The assignment should have been completed within the last 8 years.
