What will you work with?

The role involves actively contributing to the agency's strategic development regarding physical activity and sedentary behavior. You will also contribute to following and analyzing developments within the area.

A central part of the role is to develop knowledge support, for example regarding effective health promotion and preventive work, to strengthen the agency's and other actors' ability to conduct evidence-based public health work.

The work requires broad collaboration with various actors, both nationally and internationally, to ensure that the agency's work is relevant, up-to-date, and well-established. In some contexts, you may also act as a spokesperson for the agency, which requires good communication skills and the ability to convey complex issues clearly and engagingly, in both Swedish and English.

The role also includes standard tasks for an investigator at the agency, such as:

  • Responding to consultations.
  • Working with environmental scanning.
  • Communicating the unit's work in various forums.
  • Participating in the agency's networks and working groups.
  • Contributing to the unit's and the agency's general development work.

Who are we looking for?

Requirements for the position:

  • An advanced academic degree, such as a master's degree in public health, social sciences, behavioral sciences, political science, or another field relevant to the position.
  • Very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

Great emphasis is placed on:

  • Experience and knowledge of how the subject matter has developed over time.
  • Experience in assessing and compiling research to develop knowledge support or guidance for public health work.
  • Personal qualities such as good teamwork skills, responsibility, and analytical ability. You have a holistic perspective and a good manner of dealing with people.

Significant emphasis is placed on:

  • Experience in following and analyzing developments regarding physical activity and sedentary behavior.
  • Experience in investigative work at an agency or other organization with a knowledge-supporting mandate related to public health.
  • Experience in public health work with a focus on structural issues.
  • Experience in cross-sectoral collaboration.

Emphasis is placed on:

  • Experience in health promotion and preventive work at the national level.
  • Experience in international work within areas relevant to the position.
  • Experience in research within public health, social medicine, behavioral sciences, political science, or another field relevant to the position.

What does the unit do?

The Unit for Health-Promoting Lifestyle Habits and Living Conditions is responsible for the agency's work on compiling, analyzing, and disseminating knowledge about food-related health, physical activity and sedentary behavior, overweight and obesity, and outdoor recreation.

About the employment

You will be employed as an investigator with placement at our office in Solna or Östersund. The employment is a permanent full-time position starting with a six-month probation period. The start date is as soon as possible according to agreement.

As an employee of the Swedish Public Health Agency, you may be assigned to wartime duties. Some positions are classified security clearances where Swedish citizenship may be a requirement. Security clearance will then be conducted in accordance with the Security Protection Act (2018:585).

There may be an opportunity to conclude an agreement for remote work up to 40 percent of your working hours at the agency.
