About the Department

The Geriatric Clinic at Örnsköldsvik Hospital is part of the Internal Medicine Clinic in the Northern Primary Care Area. We have both outpatient and inpatient operations. Currently, we have 6 care beds focused on geriatric rehabilitation after severe illness; however, the beds are also occupied by internal medicine patients. The patients primarily come from internal medicine, surgery, and orthopedics. Patients also visit the geriatric clinic for dementia investigations and cognitive driving assessments. We conduct both theoretical and practical driving license investigations. There are some special groups that are also relevant at the clinic, including geriatric patients with Parkinson's or patients with Huntington's who have started to suffer cognitive decline. We have a home visit team with 2 nurses attached to the team who visit elderly patients with multiple illnesses. We are also responsible for home stroke rehabilitation together with the paramedics attached to the team, as well as day rehabilitation. Patients with varying illnesses, regardless of age (> 18 years), are also referred there for a period of outpatient rehabilitation. Medical students are also trained at the clinic, in addition to colleagues in training, such as AT (basic) and ST (specialist) doctors. Our work is largely team-based with close collaboration with other professional categories. At the geriatrics department in Örnsköldsvik, we have a fine community, positive atmosphere, and good working environment.

We are now looking for two Senior Consultants/Specialist Doctors. The positions are permanent full-time appointments with start date as agreed.

Responsibilities

• Have patient responsibility, which means being responsible for medical investigation, assessment, and treatment of patients.
• Administrative work.
• Participate in teaching and supervision of medical students and less experienced colleagues in collegial meetings.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who

For Senior Consultant/Specialist Doctor:

• Are a licensed doctor and specialist doctor in geriatrics.
• Have good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing.
• Have a B driving license.

For Senior Consultant:

• Can serve alone as an on-call doctor in their own specialty, or alternatively have overarching competence within their sub-specialty with the ability to take on overall responsibility.
• Have at least 3 years of clinical full-time service after obtaining specialist competence in the current basic specialty.

It is an advantage if you

For Senior Consultant and Specialist Doctor:

• Have experience from outpatient teams.

For Senior Consultant:

• Have a defined medical responsibility and/or knowledge area.
• Have teaching and/or supervision experience.
• Have leadership and administrative experience/training.
• Have defended a thesis with active research in a relevant subject area.
• Have other merit-worthy research merits.
