Do you want to work as a personal assistant for a 13-year-old boy living with his family in Strängnäs? We are looking for an assistant who can cover absences and holidays. As a substitute, you must be able to work both day shifts and awake night shifts.

About the position

Our client is a 13-year-old boy with cerebral palsy (CP), epilepsy, and autism-like behaviors. He uses a wheelchair but can also move around without it with support. He does not have spoken language, so you must be perceptive and attentive to the boy's signals to understand him. He needs help with everything in his daily life. During the day, the boy attends school and does not have assistance, but during holidays and days off, he has assistance even during daytime. The boy loves everything that spins and rolls and can spend hours rolling large stones. He is also a fan of YouTube and loves his tablet.

The work is based on respect for individual self-determination and integrity. A thorough and clear introduction is provided upon employment, so that you as an assistant feel secure, but primarily so that the client feels safe with you. There are cats in the home, so you should not be allergic to cats.

You who are applying

You who are applying should preferably have experience in personal assistance, preferably working with children within the LSS (Support and Service Act for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments). You should be loyal, flexible, and mature in your approach to different situations, both demanding and less demanding. You must be able to adapt your pedagogical approach to the individual. Experience with epilepsy, low-affective interaction, and experience with aggressive behavior are meritorious.

As a personal assistant, you work in the boy's family home, which is why it is important that you are good at communicating, have a good and respectful attitude, and possess strong empathetic skills.

Since the boy does not have spoken language and has difficulty expressing himself, you must be creative, receptive, and attentive to small signals. Experience in personal assistance is meritorious, but personal suitability and care experience will weigh the heaviest. Please mention in your application when you are available for the position.

Since the boy is under 18 years old, a certificate of good conduct (extract from the criminal record) is required before employment.

• You should not be allergic to cats.
• You need a driver's license and a car to commute to and from work, as bus connections are insufficient.
