Do you want to work in a qualified and operationally close role where you can combine strategic work with operational support in complex labor law issues? We are looking for you who want to help develop employer practices in a knowledge-intensive organization where labor law, collaboration, and sustainable solutions are in focus.
In this role, you will have a central position with significant responsibility and broad contact areas, supporting managers and HR colleagues in everything from labor law assessments and negotiations to the development of working methods and internal guidelines. You will become an important part of ensuring professional, legally secure, and forward-looking HR work while contributing to the development of the business and long-term employer policy.
About the Department/Group
The Personnel Department is part of KTH's operational support and consists of approximately 100 employees, of whom 15 work in the Group for Labor Law, Occupational Health and Safety, and the Equality Office.
You will become part of a group working with issues within occupational health and safety, labor law, and JML (Joint Management-Labor Committee). The group provides support to both the operations within KTH and other parts of the internal HR organization. The work is characterized by collaboration, knowledge exchange, and a common focus on contributing to professional and operationally close HR support.
Responsibilities
In the role of HR Specialist, you serve as a qualified labor law advisor to managers and HR colleagues throughout the organization. You handle and drive complex individual cases, such as those involving labor shortage, reassignment, misconduct, and termination of employment, and participate in, and in some cases lead, labor law negotiations based on current legislation and collective agreements.
You are responsible for ensuring the correct application of labor law regulations, such as the Act on Public Employment (LOA), the Administrative Procedure Act (FL), the University Ordinance (HF), and central collective agreements, such as TurA-S. The role also involves providing support in strategic employer issues and contributing to the development of working methods, guidelines, and internal policy documents within the labor law area.
Furthermore, you monitor changes in laws and agreements, interpret their implications, and implement them in practice within the organization. You contribute to competence development within HR and management through training initiatives and counseling, and collaborate with trade unions to contribute to well-functioning party relations. The role also includes participation in development projects and initiatives within the HR area, particularly related to labor law and employer policy.
Qualifications
Requirements
- A university or college degree focusing on personnel, organizational, and working life issues, or equivalent education as assessed by the employer, or alternatively, work experience that the employer finds equivalent and relevant.
- At least five years of current experience in relevant qualified work in an HR function as assessed by the employer.
- Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written, as these are used in daily work.
Personal Attributes
You are self-reliant and take responsibility for driving your work forward in a structured and qualitative manner. At the same time, you have good collaboration skills and contribute to a positive and non-hierarchical work climate where you together achieve the organization's goals. You are relationship-building and have an easy time establishing trustworthy contacts, both internally and externally. Furthermore, you are proactive and see opportunities for development and improvement, while turning ideas into practical action.
Meritorious
- Experience working in a similar role within the public sector.
- Experience in HR work at a higher education institution.
- Experience working with special legislation and agreements for the state and universities (e.g., LOA, FL, HF, and TurA-S).
- Experience in handling and/or labor law negotiations (e.g., redundancy and disputes).
We will place great emphasis on personal attributes.
