What will you work with?

You will work as an investigator at the Vaccination Unit (VA), within the Division for Infectious Disease Control and Preparedness (SB). As an investigator, you work in accordance with the agency's overarching goals and mission.

Most investigators work with both surveillance and follow-up and with investigations, statements on draft legislation, and other projects; the distribution may vary.

The duties include:

  • Producing and communicating scientific knowledge bases and methodological support that support implementation in the field of vaccinations.
  • Contributing to the work of systematically supporting, following up, and evaluating different aspects of the vaccination program, with a focus on benefit for the agency's target groups within healthcare and the general public.
  • Together with colleagues, arrange activities and seminars for knowledge development aimed at our collaborating partners and target groups within healthcare.
  • Participate in or lead investigations and analyses prior to changes in vaccination programs.
  • Collaborate with other agencies on vaccination-related issues.
  • Monitor infectious diseases (primarily via Sminet).

Other tasks may become relevant as the unit's work develops. In addition, it includes performing routine tasks for investigators at the agency, such as preparing decision support materials, writing statements on draft legislation, and participating in internal tasks.

Who are we looking for?

Requirements for the position:

  • A university degree in natural sciences, medicine, epidemiology, statistics, public health, pharmacology, nursing, behavioral science, or another related area that the agency considers relevant for the assignment.
  • Very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

Great weight is placed on:

  • Personal qualities such as good teamwork skills, being responsible, flexible, and independent. You have a holistic perspective and a good approach to people.
  • Good knowledge of and experience in working in the vaccine or infectious disease control field.
  • Experience of work or research within vaccination programs, vaccination follow-up, vaccination recommendations, public health, infectious diseases, epidemiology, or similar.

Significant weight is placed on:

  • Experience of producing knowledge bases within healthcare or recommendations.
  • Experience of collaboration with agencies and other relevant actors.
  • Experience of having conducted follow-ups and evaluations with qualitative or quantitative methods.
  • Experience of strategic work with vaccine issues and/or public health issues.
  • Experience of work within behavioral insights.
  • Experience of investigative work within knowledge-based organizations, such as agencies, regions, or organizations within civil society.

Weight is placed on:

  • Experience of data management and analysis, preferably within the healthcare sector, epidemiology, or infectious disease control.

What does the unit do?

The Vaccination Unit is responsible for coordinating the national vaccination programs at the national level. The assignment includes monitoring infectious diseases and vaccination coverage, as well as producing background material and recommendations to the government on whether new vaccinations should be included in national vaccination programs. The unit is responsible for the national support and coordination of regions and municipalities' work with vaccination programs and recommendations. The unit also follows up and actively works with various aspects regarding vaccine acceptance.

About the employment

You will be employed as an investigator with placement at our office in Solna or Östersund. The employment is a permanent full-time position starting with a six-month probationary period. Commencement is as soon as possible according to agreement.

As an employee at the Public Health Agency of Sweden, you may be assigned to wartime duties. Some positions are classified where Swedish citizenship may be a requirement. Security clearance will then be conducted in accordance with the Security Protection Act (2018:585).

At the agency, there may be an opportunity to agree on remote work up to 40 percent of your working time.
