About the activity

Region Västernorrland is one of five areas in the country authorized to provide National Highly Specialized Care (NHV) for severe eating disorders. This form of care combines inpatient care with a smaller portion of outpatient care and is located at Sundsvall Hospital. The care is complex and requires a multidisciplinary team, and we collaborate with other NHV units regarding research and development.

The purpose of highly specialized care is for the healthcare provider to be able to maintain and offer competence throughout the entire multidisciplinary team, have the opportunity to develop and maintain good quality care without accessibility being limited. We have close cooperation with other activities within county psychiatry and habilitation in Region Västernorrland and are primarily responsible for the need for highly specialized care in the entire northern region. NHV in Sundsvall also offers other specialized care for severe eating disorders, which includes care for elite athletes with eating disorders.

We are now looking for a Senior Physician for NHV in Sundsvall. The position is for a permanent full-time employment with start date as agreed.

Responsibilities

We are looking for you who want to contribute to the continued development of our operations. Here there are opportunities to explore new treatment methods and expand the diagnosis of eating disorders. The main responsibilities are patient responsibility, which means being responsible for the medical investigation, assessment, and treatment of patients. Tasks such as supervision, handling referrals, and contact with the Swedish Social Insurance Agency are also included in the position. The research group, Magnus Sjögren research lab, is part of the Department of Clinical Science at Umeå University and is located at NHV Eating Disorders and the Psychiatric Clinic at the Regional Hospital in Sundsvall. The research group has collaborations with Karolinska Institutet, Umeå University, University of Southern Denmark, University of Copenhagen, and several other universities. Currently, 2 doctoral students are included in the group. The research and doctoral education take place with the support of Umeå University and the Research and Development Unit at the Regional Hospital in Sundsvall, which has the important resources and infrastructure required (administration, doctoral training programs, servers/IT systems, statisticians) to carry out doctoral projects and research within psychiatry.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who

• Are a licensed physician with specialist competence in psychiatry
• Have language skills in Swedish in speech and writing at least at level C1 according to the Council of Europe scale
• Have 3 years of clinical full-time employment after obtaining specialist competence
• Have supervisor training for physicians

• Have a defined medical responsibility and/or knowledge area
• Have teaching and/or supervisory experience
• Have leadership and administrative experience/education
• Have defended a thesis with active research in a relevant subject area
• Have other meritorious research merits
