Our research and development department, located in Hagfors, is the largest in the world within the tool steel industry.

To our Energy & Infrastructure group, we are now looking for you who want to contribute your expertise in power engineering in an innovative, global environment. World-leading technology is applied and developed to help us improve our operations, where we are in an expansion phase regarding electrification. The challenges involve increasing demands on power infrastructure, electricity consumption & flexibility, as well as the prerequisites for transitioning from fossil energy to future energy solutions. Energy & Infrastructure is a branch of our Technology and Innovation department, which also consists of Data Analysis & Artificial Intelligence, IT/OT, and Mechanics, Energy & Infrastructure. We are currently a team of about 40 employees, and we are recruiting now to further strengthen our team. Our common goal is to carry out investment projects and other technical development projects at Uddeholm. For the Energy & Infrastructure Department, we focus particularly on our strategic goals to:

• Achieve fossil-free production by 2030
• Achieve high energy saving targets (4% per year)
• Maintain power infrastructure that provides the prerequisites for our electrification plan and other power-intensive projects

To achieve these goals, we are looking for people with a strong interest in creating world-leading tool steel manufacturing through technical solutions, where optimal solutions contribute to a more sustainable production. All steel produced in Hagfors is already largely based on scrap steel, and our process is increasingly driven by fossil-free energy. We are working towards a circular industry, and we need your help to complete this work.

Responsibilities

As an expert in power engineering, you will either be responsible for your own projects or be part of project groups where you contribute specialized expertise in your area. You can work as a project manager, sub-project manager, or technical resource. As an expert, you will perform necessary calculations and assumptions to drive projects forward, where a key part of the work is to identify and implement power and energy optimization proposals. It also includes monitoring existing and planning for new power infrastructure for the entire production facility, which is a crucial component for Uddeholm to reach its strategic goal of fossil-free production.

You will be involved in setting requirements and evaluating supplier proposals, either as a project manager with own responsibility or as a resource in a project, and take responsibility for driving projects from idea to final documentation and handover.

The position is full-time, daytime hours, and start date is as soon as possible or according to agreement.

Your Profile

To succeed in the role, it is important that you are an initiative-taking and goal-oriented person who has the endurance to drive the work forward, even when unexpected obstacles arise. You are motivated by finding solutions to technical challenges and do not lose sight of the goal until the project is completed. A strong interest in electrical engineering is crucial for you to thrive, and experience in power systems, energy distribution, or automation is advantageous.

The role requires that you can switch between different tasks, projects, and contacts, which suits you if you are flexible and thrive in a varied work environment with a high pace. You have a university or civil engineering degree in electrical engineering or similar, and have previous experience of project work, either as a participant or project manager.
