Do you want to take a key role in one of the Nordics' most specialized steel foundries – where technology, customer solutions, and production truly meet?

Österby Foundry is now looking for a Technical Manager who wants to lead, drive, and develop the technical and control functions in a business where competence, quality, and proactive product development together with the customer are crucial for continued growth. This is a role for you who wants to be close to both the business and production. You will become a central part of the management group, report to the CEO, and work in close collaboration with the Production Manager, production staff, and sales. Here you get the opportunity to influence both the daily technical work and the long-term development of technology, quality, and working methods. Österby Foundry specializes in machined and complex steel castings in short series, often as unique or customer-specific solutions. We offer a holistic approach where customers receive support from idea to finished product, with early and customer-adapted technical advisory services. Simultaneously, casting, machining, control, classification, and often also surface treatment and assembly are included in the same delivery. Our customers are found in sectors such as marine, paper and pulp, energy, heavy industry, and process industry. About the role You are responsible for the technical and control functions in the business together with a group of seven employees with high technical competence. This includes, among other things, responsibility for design, programming, and technical preparation, production setup, investments, control, and verification of products. You ensure the best possible solution based on the customer's needs, quality, and business viability. This is a broad and operationally close management role where you need to thrive in the interplay between people, technology, and production. You are expected to be a clear leader for the technical area, while also contributing to the dialogue with customers and in the development of Österby's future offerings. Your mission You will, among other things:

  • Lead, develop, and coordinate the technical and control functions.
  • Be part of the management group and contribute to the overall development of the business.
  • Be responsible for technical assessments, calculations, and selection of production solutions.
  • Ensure control, testing, and technical verification of products.
  • Work closely with the Production Manager and operators on technical and quality issues.
  • Contribute to customer dialogues where Österby Foundry acts as an advisory and developmental partner in creating new products.
  • Proactively drive improvements in new technology, casting methods, automation, and working methods.
  • Build a more flexible technical and control department through knowledge transfer and reduced vulnerability.
Who we are looking for

We are looking for you who are a secure, communicative, and present leader with good technical understanding and a good ability to create trust in the organization. You likely have experience from a role as a Technical Manager, Production Manager, Development Manager, or similar within industry, manufacturing, or other relevant technical operations. You understand how technology, quality, production, and business are interconnected, and you are accustomed to making decisions that work both in theory and in practice. We believe you have:

  • Experience in leadership within technical or manufacturing operations.
  • A good understanding of industrial processes, manufacturing, and quality.
  • Experience working closely with production, management, and customers.
  • Experience in technical assessments, improvement work, and business development.
  • A technical university degree or equivalent work experience.
It is an advantage if you have experience from foundries, the metal industry, machining, or other relevant industrial environments.Why this might be the right role for you
