Your workplace

The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry unit is the region's specialist resource for children and adolescents with moderate to severe mental ill-health. Together with other actors within the region, we have the task of offering equal, need-based, and cost-effective care for children, young people, and their families. Collaboration with families and other actors, such as schools and social services, is a major and important part of our work.

Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is a large workplace with approximately 200 employees across various professional roles. We work in interdisciplinary teams and share responsibility for the patients belonging to the team. The patient is naturally at the center of our focus.

Clinic 3 is one of three base clinics at the hospital. We work with children and adolescents living in the eastern parts of Värmland, which includes the municipalities of Torsby, Hagfors, Sunne, Munkfors, Forshaga, Kil, and Karlstad. Our team consists of a unit manager, team leader, doctors, nurses, psychologists, social workers, and care administrators.

Collaboration is an important part of our mission, where you as a psychologist and psychotherapist are a key link in knowledge development. Today, approximately 29 psychologists and three psychotherapists work at the clinic. Psychologists and psychotherapists have regular professional meetings and collaboration sessions to cooperate across clinic boundaries and further develop their competence. In addition, there is external supervision in small groups.

Your responsibilities

As a psychologist or psychotherapist, you are a very important part of the work at Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. You are expected to work both close to patients and consultatively towards colleagues and collaborating partners. The patient-facing work is conducted both individually and collegially, as well as interdisciplinary.

As a psychologist or psychotherapist, you meet with children and adolescents, their guardians, and other important persons, and are responsible for conducting psychological assessments and treatments. As a psychologist, you also perform neuropsychiatric investigations, and you have a flexible role where you can choose whether to focus more on assessment or treatment. Both psychologists and psychotherapists are responsible for contributing the psychological perspective and specific competence in individual patient cases as well as in overall method development.

Your knowledge and competencies

We are looking for you who are a licensed psychologist or psychotherapist with a focus on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

To thrive with us, you need to have good collaboration skills as the work involves cooperation both within and outside the organization. We also see that you are proactive and have a holistic view. We would like you to have an interest in participating in development work at different levels within the organization. You have a good ability to work independently and structure your work based on given goals and conditions. Through your flexibility, you can adapt to changed circumstances, and you always organize and prioritize your work.
