Workplace Description
Vallaskolan is centrally located in Sollefteå town. A total of approximately 550 students attend the school, divided into two principal areas: grades 4-9 and adapted primary school. There are 24 classes in the primary school. The school leadership consists of a principal and two assistant principals, who also have teaching duties. There are approximately 40 teaching positions, including special needs teachers and teachers in special education groups. Additionally, there are student wardens and resource persons. Further staff are active in administration, student health services, library, IT, and maintenance. Six of the teachers are lead teachers. The lead teachers have a municipal-wide overarching assignment. Furthermore, on behalf of the principal, they also lead development work at the school. The competence of the staff is highly valued by the school leadership, and there are good opportunities for development within the organization.
The operations are organized in grade-level teams. Close collaboration among teachers in the team and with students facilitates promoting and preventive student health work, joint assessment, cross-curricular work, and other non-scheduled activities. As a teacher, you are also part of subject groups with others teaching the same subject. In the subject group, student work is assessed jointly, common planning is created, and student results and evaluations are analyzed together. The school also has operations for newly arrived students integrated with a special educational environment.
Sollefteå Municipality has come far regarding digitalization. All students have access to a Chromebook, and we extensively use Google's educational services in teaching. We also have access to digital learning materials in most subjects, all classrooms are equipped with projectors, and all teachers have their own Chromebook. Using technology as a tool to promote learning and goal achievement is a matter of course for the school.
The unit has a well-developed student health service with special needs teachers, two counselors, two school nurses, a study and career counselor, and access to a school psychologist on a consultative basis. The school has well-developed strategies for promoting and preventive student health work, in which the student health service is included in the teams' SHM (Student Health Meetings). The structure of the combined competence contributes to strengthening students in their development, both academically and socially.
There is always an IT technician on site, and the school library is well-staffed every day of the week.

Job Responsibilities
At the start of the autumn term 2026, we will increase staffing in one of the school's two adapted learning environments to better meet the needs of the students.
In the adapted learning environment, more individual support is provided to students where we assess that the support and adjustments given in the classroom are not sufficient. In the adapted learning environment, you work in close collaboration primarily with your colleagues in the same group, but also with other subject teachers at the school.
The assignment includes planning teaching both independently and in close cooperation with your colleagues and subject teachers.
Mentorship is included.
Qualifications
We are primarily looking for you who have a special needs teacher degree, and/or have broad subject competence. Work with similar assignments is considered meritorious. Great importance is placed on personal qualities and your ability to collaborate with both adults and students.
The position is advertised subject to necessary decisions being made.
