Senior Mechanical Designer / Thermal Systems Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced engineer who will lead and execute technically complex assignments with a significant impact on the business. This role requires broad and/or deep expertise, acquired through extensive experience beyond formal qualifications.

About Us

The Climate System section is responsible for climate system development within Volvo Car Group and is part of Vehicle Engineering within R&D (Product & Quality).

The AC Hardware team consists of approximately 25 employees with a diverse background and experience. We work in an open and inclusive environment with a strong team spirit.

We are in an exciting phase where the electrification of the automotive industry is in focus, which places demands on flexibility, initiative, and a willingness to drive change.

Your Responsibilities

As part of the AC Hardware team, you will:

• Work with the development of thermal systems throughout the entire product development process
• Collaborate closely with teams, suppliers, the test department, and other internal functions
• Plan, implement, and optimize technical solutions
• Ensure that suppliers meet requirements and quality standards
• Verify and analyze the product's function and performance
• Be responsible for product development regarding quality, cost, and schedule
• Monitor project status and ensure delivery according to plan

You will also contribute specialist knowledge within:

• Pipes and hoses
• Heat exchangers
• Component-related software and electrical hardware

Qualifications

Requirements:

• Civil or university degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
• At least 10 years of experience in thermal systems
• Extensive knowledge in:
• Refrigerant systems
• Heat exchangers
• Pipes and hoses
• Experience working with suppliers
• Good proficiency in English, both spoken and written
• Valid driver's license (Category B)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with NVH and system-FMEA
• Experience from the automotive industry
