Driven by technology, collaboration, and the opportunity to make a real difference? At Siemens Mobility, you will help develop the transport solutions of the future alongside an engaged and skilled Engineering team. We are looking for someone with experience in commissioning who can step into, or grow into, the role of Test Manager in an environment where innovation and quality are central.
At Siemens Mobility, we work on large and technically advanced projects within railway power supply and signaling systems for rail-bound traffic. Our projects vary in size and are carried out for well-known clients such as Trafikverket (the Swedish Transport Administration) and Stockholms läns landsting (SL).
The position is based in Solna, Gothenburg, Sundsvall, or Västerås, but we are open to discussing other locations.
What does Mikael Lind, Project Engineer, have to say about working at the company?
"Siemens is a large and secure company with opportunities for development and training. A major advantage of the job is the variety of projects. Being involved from the planning phase all the way to commissioning makes the work stimulating."
Responsibilities
In the role of Commissioning Engineer, you will work with railway power supply, focusing on Siemens converter technology for the railway's 16 2/3 Hz power supply, as well as rectifier stations for the metro, including substations and advanced control system solutions. You will encounter various types of electrical installations across a wide voltage range, from 0.4 to 130 kV, for both DC and AC.
You will become an important part of a competent and engaged team with experienced project managers, designers, and testers. Since we drive projects and work with installations across the country, travel is a natural part of the role.
- Commission and test new and retrofitted electrical power supply installations for railways and metros, including converter and rectifier stations, substations, and associated control and steering systems
- Plan, lead, and coordinate commissioning and testing activities in projects, in close collaboration with colleagues, subcontractors, and clients
- Take technical responsibility for testing phases and ensure that installations meet specified requirements and functional specifications
- Perform various types of tests such as visual inspection, circuit testing, insulation testing, mechanical and electrical functional testing, and relay protection testing
- Troubleshoot deviations or functional problems, with a focus on operation, electrical safety, and technical quality
- Contribute to the improvement and development of Siemens Mobility's commissioning and testing processes as you grow into the business
What does Eric Bergström, Electrical Designer/Tester, have to say about the position and the company?
"In my role, my main tasks are electrical design, where new drawings for power stations are to be developed. We work on projects where drawings for new stations are created, but it can also be existing stations where certain parts need to be renovated or renewed. The most stimulating part of this job is the amount of problem-solving required daily. Both the problems you need to solve yourself, and the parts where we as a team solve the problems together.
What attracted me to apply to Siemens Mobility was the variety of interesting projects, as well as Siemens' good reputation. It is a great company to work for with varied tasks and a good community. There is a wide range of knowledge within the company, which is a great advantage for the different types of projects we have."
What does Helena Stelius, Application Services Engineer, have to say about the position and the company?
"The best thing about the job is the constant change in pace and tasks. I appreciate the change and the fact that I have been given room to grow in my role by learning more, which also leads to more responsibility.
Siemens Mobility is a company that focuses heavily on the development of its employees, and it really shows. The main advantages of the company are the colleagues, the security, and the opportunity to grow. There is also a strong focus on work-life balance, which is important to me."
Your Profile
To thrive in this role, we expect you to have a strong technical interest in electrical power and a curiosity that drives you to find new solutions to technical challenges. You work carefully and structured, taking responsibility for your work. As a person, you are open and positive, with a good ability to adapt to different people and situations.
- Experience in testing and commissioning converter or rectifier stations within railway power supply, or alternatively distribution or transmission installations
- Engineering education in electrical power or equivalent technical secondary education
- Knowledge of control systems and relay protection
- Experience working with test equipment such as Omicron and Sverker
- Experience with Trafikverket's installations and working according to their requirements is an asset
- Swedish and English, both spoken and written
- Driver's license and willingness to work in a traveling position
