Responsibilities

As a nurse on our wards, you will have a varied role where you, together with nursing assistants, are responsible for a care team and participate in care planning with the patient and the team. You are responsible for nursing care and medical assessments, as well as participating in therapeutic conversations, health checks, and medication management.

You will document your work in the electronic health record system Cosmic. When a patient is preparing for discharge, you will collaborate with municipalities and relevant discharge facilities to ensure safe and continuous care.

Nursing assignments and needs exist within different parts of the operation, offering the opportunity to express preferences regarding specific areas of interest.

About the Workplace

The Forensic Regional Clinic is a highly specialized unit providing psychiatric care with specific security requirements. We receive patients transferred to forensic psychiatric care by court order, as well as individuals who are remanded, detained, or incarcerated within the prison system. Our mission is to provide safe and secure care, with a focus on rehabilitation, recovery, and reduced risk of reoffending.

We work in multidisciplinary teams where different competencies collaborate – always with the patient's needs at the center. Forensic psychiatry is a form of care that requires knowledge, structure, and great commitment. It also demands attentiveness, patience, and a belief in change. This makes the work challenging – and very meaningful.

The clinic is growing, and collaboration with other regions regarding their care needs is increasing. Opportunities to link the clinic to research with various focuses in collaboration with universities are expanding through our growth. We already have ongoing research in the field of nursing. The four existing inpatient wards have 55 care places; in August/September 2026, an additional ward with 16 care places will open, resulting in a total of 71 care places.

We are located in Sala and currently have approximately 170 employees, which will increase to around 200 after the expansion.

Employment is available for day/evening/weekend and night shifts, as well as in some cases day shifts (Monday-Friday) within certain parts of the operation.

Qualifications

We are looking for a licensed nurse. It is an advantage if you are a specialist nurse in psychiatric care. We also consider experience working in psychiatric or forensic psychiatric care as an asset. Our work is governed by documents in Swedish, so you must have good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written. Experience working with the electronic health record system Cosmic is an advantage.

We look for you to be a secure, stable person with good self-awareness. You collaborate well with others and have the ability to structure and drive your work forward independently. The role of a nurse involves leadership and requires the ability to lead and motivate other nursing staff together with your nurse colleagues. You are a meticulous person who is well aware of goals and quality standards. To succeed in this role, you need to be able to adapt easily to changing circumstances.

Permanent employment, full-time, Sala.
