About the workplace
The position is located at the Department of History within the Faculty of Humanities and Theology. The Department of History is situated at LUX in central Lund, close to research libraries, IT support, the Humanities Laboratory, cafés, and dining halls. The Faculty offers several popular courses and programs at bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels, and is responsible for the National Graduate School in Historical Studies. We offer a vibrant and large teaching and research environment with active pedagogical development work. We work extensively in teaching teams, and as a lecturer, you will receive support from colleagues, the study director, and study counselors. The department strives for a good working environment with recurring joint staff and teacher meetings, shared coffee breaks, and an annual psychosocial survey.

Tasks and areas of responsibility
The position primarily involves teaching history and media history at the basic level for students in the bachelor's program, subject teacher students, and students in standalone courses. This includes chronological courses, theory and methods courses, and thesis courses. The main language of instruction is Swedish/Scandinavian, but teaching in English may occur.
Requirements for the position:
- A master's degree in history or equivalent, or equivalent knowledge acquired in another way, combined with other competence relevant to the subject focus and tasks of the position.
- Good pedagogical skills and previous experience of teaching within the university subject of history or media history.
- You have completed at least 5 weeks (7.5 ECTS credits) of higher education pedagogical training.
- You can teach in Swedish and English.
- You have good collaboration skills and a willingness to work together in teaching teams.
Merits for the position:
- A PhD in history or media history.
- Experience of teaching in chronological courses, theory and methods courses, and thesis courses.
- Experience of working with Canvas.

The position is a temporary appointment at 40% from 2026-08-15 to 2027-01-31.

The Faculty of Humanities and Theology comprises eight departments and conducts a large and varied activity in research and education. We have approximately 700 employees and 4,000 full-time students.
About the Department of History
The Department of History is one of eight departments within the Faculty of Humanities and Theology. It is a large department with three divisions: the Division of History, the Division of Human Rights, and the Centre for East and Southeast Asian Studies. There are around 100 teachers and researchers. Teaching is primarily conducted within the framework of bachelor's programs in history and human rights, master's programs in history, and international master's programs in human rights and Asian studies. The department also has a large doctoral program with PhD students in history, human rights, and East and Southeast Asian studies, among others through a graduate school in historical studies.
