Housing First Malmö is expanding and seeking three Social Workers
Housing First Malmö is expanding its operations by recruiting three social workers within support and counseling. Housing First is an initiative for individuals with complex social problems who are experiencing long-term homelessness. We offer support and independent housing in the form of an apartment with a transferable sublet contract. The support is recovery-oriented and strength-based, aiming to strengthen the possibility of remaining housed and to increase the individual's perceived quality of life.
The work team collaborates closely, placing great importance on supporting one another and promoting the exchange of knowledge and experience. We work proactively to develop our operations, which are in constant change, by drawing inspiration from other organizations, pursuing further education, and conducting study visits.
We value a work team with diverse experiences, perspectives, and competencies and therefore welcome applicants with varied professional backgrounds and life experiences. We believe that a broad composition in the work team contributes to both the development of the organization and strong collegial learning.
Responsibilities
As a social worker within Housing First, you are the link between the tenant, the social services, and the property owner. Your tasks include supporting our tenants in daily activities and in their contact with authorities. Together with the tenant, we work to create a safe and stable home. Home visits are conducted continuously, and if you are the tenant's contact person, you work in a motivating manner to ensure that the interventions the tenant needs are initiated. As a contact person, you staff the open facility based on a rotating schedule. The open facility offers a social context and the opportunity for practical support for residents within Housing First. We work with ongoing documentation and, together with the tenant, we establish implementation plans.
Furthermore, the assignment involves collaborating and informing about Housing First in contact with property owners, authorities, and other organizations. You are also a key party when incidents occur, which can sometimes arise from our residents' complex situations. Regarding communication with our tenants, partners, and property owners, it is important that you are professional and communicative and that you dare to raise difficulties in order to work towards continuous improvements.
In our work, we base ourselves on methods such as Harm Reduction, Low Affective Approach (LAB), and Motivational Interviewing (MI).
Qualifications
We are looking for you with a degree in Social Work and several years of experience working with people living with mental illness and substance use disorders. You also have knowledge and experience of the Low Affective Approach (LAB).
Merits:
- Experience of performing supervision and assignments in clients' home environments
- Experience and knowledge regarding Harm Reduction, MI, and Relapse Prevention
- Knowledge and experience of Naloxone and CPR
- Experience working with people living in homelessness
- Experience of exercising public authority
- Experience of collaborating with actors around the target group, such as psychiatry, FSF, and municipal authorities that decide on housing
We are in an organization that is both growing and developing, and therefore we are looking for someone who thrives in a flexible environment and wants to contribute to our ongoing development work. You have good communication skills, are attentive, solution-oriented, and take your own initiatives to drive issues forward in collaboration with colleagues and external actors.
We value that you are unpretentious, collaborative, and contribute to an open working climate where we learn from each other and our experiences. It is important that you can adapt your approach based on each tenant's individual situation with a calm, stable, and professional attitude.
You work in a motivating way with a focus on the individual's strengths and opportunities, conveying hope and security even in challenging situations, and you express yourself very well in Swedish, both verbally and in writing. A B-class driver's license is a requirement (both manual and automatic licenses are acceptable).
