Support Assistant for the Special Resource-Intensive Unit in Trelleborg

In Trelleborg, we work together for a growing community of success where it is good to live. Our 61 villages and 21 urban districts are creative meeting places bubbling with life. Here, we have desires, we tell stories about them, and we come as we are. This is why we welcome others in the same generous and curious way.

Welcome to take your place on the journey!

About the Social Administration

The mission of the Social Administration is to work with social services and provide support so that everyone in the municipality feels safe and has the same opportunities in life. We want everyone to be able to be active and participate in society. With a focus on respect for the individual's right to determine their own life, we are responsible for three important areas: care and support, support for people with disabilities, and assistance to individuals and families. Our goal is for everyone to receive the support and care they need.

Since everything Trelleborg Municipality does is based on our core values – openness, respect, and responsibility – it is important and decisive that these values are just as natural to you as they are to us in our work.

Join the Functional Support's journey to become Sweden's best LSS!

The Functional Support department is divided into three units: the authority unit, the special resource-intensive unit, and the traditional unit.

We are now looking for a Support Assistant for the unit that works with individuals with a high need for support, the Special Resource-Intensive Unit. We are looking for you who have a feeling for the encounter with the individual, with the ability to work in a structured manner and create a calm, safe environment for our residents.

Workplace and Target Group

The workplace is located in a modern residence built for the purpose. The target group is Group 1 within LSS (Act concerning Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments), which includes people with intellectual disabilities, autism, or autism-like conditions. There are also often multiple diagnoses and behavioral difficulties.

The residence is well thought out and physically designed to be stress-reducing in daily life for the users. There are spaces for both privacy and a socially developing environment, and it is also planned for high staff density. The outdoor environments are adapted for the target group with walking paths and various activity areas.

The group home and workplace are located just outside Trelleborg's urban area. The easiest way to get to and from the workplace is with your own car.

With us, you will thrive if you have the ability to see and understand the individual you work for, their mood and needs, and if you can support this through the structure that exists for their benefit.

What we can offer you

  • A modern group home as your workplace with structured work methods and work environment.
  • Internal competence development.
  • Municipality-wide benefits.
  • The best colleagues.

Job Responsibilities

In the role of Support Assistant, you are a key person in supporting and guiding users from a pedagogical and practical approach in their daily lives. This includes care/hygiene, activities, cooking, and skills training. All with the aim of users achieving increased independence.

Based on the users' implementation plans, you work to establish, drive, and follow up on the goals of the implementation plan and realize the highest possible quality and participation in daily life.

Your primary task is to instill calm and create a sense of security for the individual you meet. You need to see and meet the individual's mood and needs while listening and adapting your communication based on the situation and needs. You adhere to the existing structures and carry the support to the individual, while striving to develop the support and structures for the individual in collaboration with the pedagogues in the operation.

You are also a support that creates conditions for good contact with relatives, healthcare, and other important contacts for the individual. Within the internal organization, you collaborate primarily with other support assistants, support pedagogues, and management to continuously develop the operation and achieve set goals.

Working hours are on a rotating schedule; day/evening and weekends.

Qualifications

To be considered for the position, you must have certain foundations in terms of education, work experience, and your way of handling both yourself and those you meet in your work.

  • Education: Secondary school or vocational degree from the Care and Welfare program, Children and Leisure program, or another equivalent education assessed by the employer.
  • Experience: At least one year of work experience in either functional support/LSS, the school world, or another area where you, preferably from a pedagogical perspective, have worked with and met people with disabilities (e.g., people with autism or challenging behavior).
  • Skills: Good computer skills and documentation experience are required, as you need to read and write daily notes in various systems. This also requires a good ability to express yourself well verbally and in writing in Swedish.
  • Driver's License: At least a B-license for a manual transmission car is required to get to work and to drive users between the residence and activities.
  • Physical Fitness: Good physical fitness and enjoyment of a mobile job are needed, as the work involves activities with the individual you support in daily life.
  • Personality: To thrive and function in the work role, it is of utmost importance that you are calm, secure, and stable yourself and focus on the right things in the work situation. You enjoy working in an existing structure, adhering to it while being able to reflect afterwards and collaborate on the need to develop the structures that support the individual. You see opportunities instead of obstacles and act based on existing structures and forums in the work.
