Sorsele is a small community in the heart of Lapland, offering the advantages of a small town: closeness and simplicity. We work together here. Our municipality includes a comprehensive school (grades F-9) and two village schools (grades F-6). Arts school education is offered to children from grade 4 and up. Sorsele Municipality's motto is "COURAGE, JOY, RESPECT" – because we believe this is the best way to work together. Our municipality promotes a school that enables and stimulates students to acquire and develop knowledge and values. We want all activities to be characterized by learning, job satisfaction, security, and well-being.
There is a high demand for labor throughout the municipality; if you have a family, we can assist with tips on employers for your partner. With the right conditions, this position may also be combined with other assignments within the culture and leisure department. We are a Sami administrative municipality and prefer that our employees possess Sami language and cultural competence.
The Arts School is an important part of the pedagogical activities, contributing to children and young people having the opportunity to develop their skills and dreams within music and culture. Primarily, the Arts School in Sorsele focuses on music education, but depending on needs and conditions, dance, film, and art are also examples of cultural and creative processes that can be applied in the activities.
We are now looking for a cheerful, courageous, and responsible colleague for the upcoming school year who wants to collaborate with us within the culture and leisure department to support our youth and their opportunities to practice music and other elements of culture and creativity. We look forward to your application.
Responsibilities
Teach music individually or in groups. The more instruments we can offer, the better; the most common today are singing and piano. Music education in the Arts School primarily takes place during the day in school premises. Good cooperation and clear dialogue with the primary school regarding scheduling and shared use of premises and equipment are prerequisites and a clear part of the assignment. As the coordinator for the Arts School, you will be responsible for planning and conducting courses and Arts School activities for children and young people. The teaching work will be performed independently, but otherwise, the assignment largely involves collaborating with other actors such as music teachers, guardians, and other stakeholders. Remote work and distance teaching may be possible if the right conditions exist.
Your Qualities
You are an engaged person who inspires and enthuses others, especially the children and young people you meet. You are considerate, attentive, and creative. You have good interpersonal skills and build security and trust in encounters with people. You are goal-oriented and persistent in your work. You are structured and pedagogically inclined. You have a genuine interest in children's and young people's rights and opportunities for music and cultural offerings. You possess the ability and willingness to treat each student based on their individual needs and conditions. You are a good role model with the ability to create good relationships with students, guardians, educators, and colleagues.
Competence/Qualifications - Requirements
We are looking for someone with relevant education and experience in music and culture, as well as pedagogical experience and a habit of working with children and young people. Competence in various instruments is considered an asset, as is knowledge in other cultural areas. Experience with various activities in arts schools is an asset. Great importance will be attached to personal suitability. You must have good IT skills and be familiar with the digital systems required for the activities. A B-class driver's license is required, as is a cleared criminal record check upon employment.
Duration/Working Hours:
