Do you want to lead one of Sweden's most reputable forestry media outlets into its next phase? We are looking for an Editor-in-Chief who wants to combine journalistic craftsmanship, an understanding of digital development, and a strong interest in the future of the forestry sector.
For over a hundred years, Tidningen SKOGEN has been an important voice in the Swedish forestry sector. Through journalism, analysis, and reporting, we reflect the development, challenges, and opportunities of forestry. Now we want to take the next step. Föreningen Skogen is therefore seeking an Editor-in-Chief who wants to develop Tidningen SKOGEN in a media landscape where digital publishing, new reader behaviors, and multiple channels play an increasingly important role.
About the Role
As Editor-in-Chief, you will lead the editorial work of the magazine together with two skilled colleagues. An important part of the assignment is to continue developing Tidningen SKOGEN towards a digital-first approach. This means that content is planned and published for multiple channels – web, newsletters, social media, and then print – so that journalism reaches readers where they are. Close collaboration with the marketing manager and ad sales team is crucial for the role.
You will combine strong journalistic judgment with knowledge of digital workflows and how our appreciated content can reach and engage even more readers. The Editor-in-Chief reports to the General Secretary of Föreningen Skogen.
The role includes, among other things:
- Leading and developing the editorial team's work
- Driving business development for both digital channels and print
- Planning and prioritizing content based on reader and target group needs
- Producing articles, reports, and editorial material
- Optimizing publishing and packaging for web, newsletters, social media, and print
- Working goal-oriented with reach, engagement, and subscription development
- Using analysis and data as a basis for editorial decisions
- Strengthening Tidningen SKOGEN's brand and position in the forestry sector
We are looking for you who
have experience in editorial leadership and enjoy producing and developing journalism in a changing media world.
You have:
- Good understanding of the editorial business and the ability to drive towards set goals
- Experience in leading editorial work with personnel responsibility
- Familiarity with digital publishing and CMS
- Understanding of SEO, analytics tools, and audience data
- Ability to package content for different channels
- Experience in driving development and change in an editorial organization
- Strong journalistic judgment
Experience in business, society, or industry journalism is a requirement. Forestry education or good knowledge of the forestry sector is a strong asset. We also appreciate if you have a genuine interest in the role of forestry in societal development and in the growing bioeconomy. If you own forest land yourself, that is even better.
About Föreningen Skogen
Föreningen Skogen is a non-profit, public benefit association that has worked for over 140 years to promote more active and sustainable use of forests. Our approximately 7,500 members are united by the desire to use forests better in Sweden and globally.
The association brings together forest owners, employees, machine operators, and entrepreneurs who see the need for an independent organization that can move forestry forward through debate, exchange of ideas, and new knowledge.
We know that forests have much more to offer, both to society at large and to all who care for and use them. Forests can contribute more timber and wealth, capital and climate benefits, health, and biodiversity.
With us, we build on every forest owner's joy, interest, and responsibility. Whether the engagement concerns timber production, wildlife, biodiversity, or recreation, there is room for it. We do not believe in standardization, but in curiosity, openness, and engagement.
Föreningen Skogen is an independent meeting place for knowledge, dialogue, and development within the forestry sector. Through networks, meetings, and Tidningen SKOGEN, with around 10,000 subscribers, we contribute to a strong and sustainable Swedish forestry. Read more about us here (#)
