Librarian at Lindeskolan

Stockholm – our capital city with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions. We work for everyone living here today and in the future. Now we are looking for you who want to think big, new, and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm.

Welcome to us

Hello! Are you our new school librarian? My name is Ella Argale, and I am the administrative manager at Lindeskolan, who will be your closest supervisor.

For me, the school library is an important part of the school's educational activities, and I look forward to continuing to develop the library as a resource for students' learning, reading enthusiasm, and curiosity together with you.

About Lindeskolan

Lindeskolan is a newly started school that opened in the autumn term of 2020 with a preschool class. The school is located in Enskede Gård and is growing from the ground up – this school year, about 320 students are enrolled, from preschool to grade 5. In the 2026/27 school year, we will expand with another grade. We are about 50 dedicated employees who together create a safe and developing learning environment.

As a newly started school, we have the advantage of shaping the operations from the ground up. Our ambition is to create a family-like and inclusive feeling, where we together take responsibility for a pleasant school environment where knowledge and joyful learning are central building blocks. We work with a relational and norm-conscious approach and ensure that our students feel safe and happy in their daily lives.

All staff collaborates closely and is characterized by flexibility, humility, and commitment. We offer an accessible learning environment focused on students' well-being, so that everyone can benefit from the teaching in the best way. Through general adaptations, varied teaching, and clear structure, we create a safe and predictable environment both in the classroom and during after-school activities.

At Lindeskolan, grade working teams work closely together, and we apply double mentorship – each student has both a teaching responsible mentor and an after-school responsible mentor. Our holistic view of teaching, learning, and care ensures that safety and knowledge go hand in hand. We want to be the school where students thrive, develop, and have the opportunity to discover the joy of learning.

We offer

  • An exciting opportunity to help shape a school library in a growing school.
  • You will be part of Lindeskolan's large community and work closely with educators, school management, and other staff in an inspiring collaboration.
  • Wellness allowance
  • Secure employment with collective agreements and good employee benefits offered by the City of Stockholm.

Your role

As a school librarian, you have an educational assignment based on the city's new revised school library plan and the school's other governing documents. It is about strengthening students' linguistic abilities and digital competence. The work involves many contacts with students and staff at the school.

Your main tasks include:

  • initiating, planning, and implementing various reading-promoting activities linked to the curriculum together with the teachers at the school and on your own. This includes, for example, literature presentations, book discussions, and other activities to awaken and strengthen students' reading enthusiasm and linguistic abilities.
  • working pedagogically with media and information literacy. This includes, for example, teaching source and search criticism as well as library and internet literacy. You stay updated through professional development and continuous monitoring of these areas. You also participate in the school's digitalization and development group (DUG) with other teachers at the school.
  • supporting students in need of adapted reading by providing audiobooks and easy-to-read media. Promoting reading in students' mother tongues and strengthening multilingualism is a prioritized area, as well as making the national minority languages visible.
  • being responsible for purchasing, weeding, and other maintenance of media to create a relevant and attractive offering in the school library. The school library should offer a wide range of media and activities that contribute to education, broaden perspectives, and strengthen students' learning related to the governing documents. There is a designated budget for collection development.

Your qualifications and experience

We are looking for someone with a degree in library and information science.

It is advantageous if you have experience leading groups and experience working with a library system and documented experience from working in a similar role.

To succeed in the role of librarian, you enjoy working with children and young people and are curious about their learning. You are resourceful and have the ability to develop an active and structured school library operation in collaboration with other educational staff.

Furthermore, you have good knowledge of current children's and youth literature and can inspire reading. You have high digital competence and can instruct and guide students and educators in the use of digital tools and information sources. You have a good ability to collaborate with both adults and children and create opportunities for them to participate in the school library's activities.

You should be able to express yourself clearly and pedagogically and adapt your approach and communication style to the recipient. You see it as a given to keep yourself continuously updated in your area of expertise.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities. The City of Stockholm works with competence-based recruitment aimed at ensuring each person's competence and thereby counteracting discrimination.
