Municipality of Storuman is a large municipality by area in Southern Lapland. Approximately 6,000 people live here, with just over half residing in the urban areas of Storuman/Stensele and Tärnaby/Hemavan. The Municipality of Storuman is a municipality in development. The Chancellery Unit is part of the Municipal Board Administration and consists of employees who together provide strategic and operational support to the municipality's operations and our politicians. This is where our committee handling, coordination functions, authority exercises, and other case-handling functions are located.

As a Consumer Advisor, you will have the opportunity to guide consumers correctly and contribute to a better daily life in Storuman, Lycksele, and Åsele. You will primarily work with issues covered by the Consumer Sales Act, the Consumer Services Act, the Distance and Off-Premises Contracts Act, the Consumer Credit Act, and other laws concerning consumer protection.

Job Responsibilities

You will help interpret laws in disputes between consumers and traders. You will offer:

• Pre-purchase advice: Information about rights before a purchase is made.
• Support with complaints: Help formulating complaints when a product or service is defective.
• Mediation: Can act as an independent party in disputes and sometimes assist with reports to the National Board for Consumer Disputes (ARN).
• Personal financial advice: Advice on purchases, contracts, and occasionally personal finance.
• Education/case handling

In the role of advisor, you will work primarily via phone, video meetings, and email. The work involves guiding consumers through their questions by providing simple and clear information, enabling them to understand their rights and obligations. A part of the work is proactive towards target groups in the municipalities who struggle with new digital technology; therefore, we want to focus on educating this group about e-services, Bank-ID, apps, bills, and basic IT support to increase digital participation. The workload is varying and requires flexibility. As part of the Chancellery Unit, you will also be assigned various case-handling tasks via our diary system or directly from the manager.

Qualifications

You have a university degree in social sciences or law, or another university degree deemed relevant by the employer. You have a good ability to express yourself in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing, with a particularly good ability to communicate clearly and correctly in Swedish. It is an advantage if you have: experience with legal guidance or counseling; experience working with people in various situations and demonstrating good judgment in communication; or a basic understanding of law in general, and consumer law in particular. We place great importance on your personal qualities and expect you to be empathetic, professional, and confident in conversations with different types of people.

The role requires you to work in a structured manner and follow routines, while being able to find reasonable solutions within given frameworks. This is a fixed-term full-time employment for 24 months with the possibility of extension. The place of work is Storuman. You must have a Class B driver's license.

Salary form: Monthly salary.
