The Rheumatology Clinic is looking for an occupational therapist to join our team in Lund!

The Rheumatology Unit (VE) has outpatient clinics in Lund and Malmö as well as beds in an inpatient ward in Lund. Within VE Rheumatology, both regional healthcare and highly specialized care for patients with inflammatory rheumatological diseases are provided. Some of our diagnostic groups include rheumatoid arthritis (RA), spondyloarthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), and systemic sclerosis. Modern rheumatological treatment has significantly improved patients' prognosis in recent times, and many patients are now managed through the rheumatologist's outpatient services. Continuous development is ongoing regarding both medical treatment and rehabilitation. We are a research-intensive unit with several ongoing research projects.

At the Rheumatology Clinic, we work in a multidisciplinary and team-based manner with the patient at the center. The team includes physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers, hydrotherapists, doctors, nurses, nursing assistants, and medical secretaries.

In January 2023, we opened a rheumatological day care for patients with systemic sclerosis and for the investigation of other systemic inflammatory rheumatological diseases. Patients come to the day care for assessment and diagnosis. During their assessment, patients meet relevant members of the team, where the occupational therapist plays an important role.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

In rheumatology, the occupational therapist is a natural part of the team and fulfills an important function for both patients and colleagues. We have a total of six colleagues, four in Lund and two in Malmö. In Lund, we have three occupational therapists in the clinic and one in our ward.

In the position of occupational therapist at the Rheumatology Clinic in Lund, you will work with outpatient care, day care, and day care rehabilitation. Work in our ward may occur in case of absence in the workgroup. In this position, you will be part of group two and work with patients in our day care who have systemic sclerosis. Additionally, you will have a clinic where you meet patients with various rheumatological diagnoses.

Within the framework of outpatient care, day care, and day care rehabilitation, you will be responsible for occupational therapy assessment and intervention. The occupational therapist focuses on activity and participation with the goal of enabling patients to manage daily activities despite rheumatological disease. Additionally, you will work with hand rehabilitation, where both hand training and orthosis fitting are common measures. The occupational therapists at Rheumatology work with groups for patients with fatigue. At Skåne University Hospital (Sus), supervising students is a natural part of the job.

When working in our inpatient ward, you will conduct assessments and mapping of the patient's activity capacity as well as evaluate any assistive device needs to enable a safe return to a home environment. The occupational therapist plays a key role in the discharge process and contributes to a safe and secure discharge through Mina Planer.

This position is a temporary contract for one year starting on 2026-08-17 or by agreement.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for a licensed occupational therapist with permission to practice within Swedish healthcare. Language proficiency in Swedish at least equivalent to level C1 according to the Council of Europe’s scale is required. We prefer candidates with experience as an occupational therapist in musculoskeletal diseases and/or in rehabilitation. Experience in hand rehabilitation and/or fatigue management is an advantage.
