Welcome to the Culture, Sports, and Recreation Administration. The administration consists of six departments. Four of the administration's departments are primarily responsible for the cultural committee's own operations: Uppsala Library, Uppsala Leisure, Uppsala Art and Cultural Heritage, and Uppsala Culture School. Two departments within the administration are secretariats that work directly on behalf of the administration's management and handle matters for the cultural committee and the sports and recreation committee.

Uppsala Culture School is looking for a percussion teacher with drive and pedagogical experience.

At Uppsala Culture School, 92 employees work, of which 86 are teachers. Teaching takes place during free time, i.e., afternoons and evenings. You will work together with the school's two other percussion teachers in well-equipped premises centrally located.

Job Description

You will teach children and young people aged 7-20 in percussion, both individually and in groups. You will also lead percussion ensembles and participate with students in the school's band and orchestra activities. You actively contribute to collaborative projects and initiate and conduct holiday courses, concerts, and performances together with colleagues. You see the influence of children and young people as a prerequisite for succeeding in the assignment.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has a degree as a percussion teacher or other education that the employer assesses as equivalent. You need previous experience teaching children and young people. You should master a range of styles and instruments and be comfortable arranging for percussion ensembles. It is an advantage if you have taught children and young people in a music or culture school, participated in the school's outreach activities, and engaged in development and planning work. You have a good understanding of how students absorb knowledge in different ways and their varying conditions. You adapt your teaching and your way of explaining content so that all students have the best possible conditions to understand and develop. You ensure that your message gets through by meeting students where they are and creating clarity, structure, and security in the learning situation.
