The Coast Guard is a civil governmental preparedness authority responsible for maritime surveillance and rescue services at sea on behalf of the government and parliament. With our maritime capability, the Coast Guard is also an important authority in Sweden's total defense. A key part of the maritime surveillance mission is to ensure safety in Sweden's maritime zones. This is achieved, among other things, through crime fighting, monitoring, and maintaining order. The Coast Guard's rescue service mission includes a wide range of different rescue operations, including environmental rescue efforts in the event of accidents or spills and rescue operations in the event of shipwrecks or emergencies.

Description
Coast Guard Station Slite is looking for a seagoing Cook Steward, with the place of service KBV 002 TRITON, home port in Slite on Gotland.
KBV Triton is one of the Coast Guard's largest and most advanced vessels.
Responsibilities
As a Cook Steward, your main responsibilities will include;
- Preparing meals on board for approximately 13 - 20 people
- Planning and carrying out purchases
- Ensuring a pleasant environment in the dining room, kitchen, and associated areas
- Participating in parts of the station's and vessel's work.
The working hours are scheduled with irregular hours, which include sea patrols where you will work and stay away from home for up to 11 days at a time. We offer a position with personal responsibility for planning and cooking in a kitchen environment that is modern and practical, providing excellent conditions for work and enjoyment.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- You have completed an approved culinary education
- You have an approved food hygiene education
- You have at least 3 years of experience working as a cook
- You have good knowledge of nutrition and dietary practices
- You are proficient in Swedish and English, both spoken and written
Desirable Knowledge and Qualifications
- It is advantageous if you have post-secondary education in restaurant/food
- We prefer that you have experience working in shipping/maritime environments
- We prefer that you have experience in planning, purchasing, and financial follow-up
Personal Qualities
You are flexible and can adapt your work to changing demands and circumstances. You have a good ability to communicate clearly and listen to the needs of the organization. You can handle stressful situations and work independently while collaborating with crew members and colleagues both at the Coast Guard station in Slite and on board the vessel.
Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
The position requires competence according to the guidelines KBV-Maritime (2018–3130:17) and an approved medical certificate for seafarers in unrestricted service (TSFS 2011:117).
Conditions
The employment is permanent with a 6-month initial probationary period.
The place of service is Coast Guard Station Slite, Gotland, and currently the vessel KBV 002 TRITON. Service may also take place on other vessels within the Coast Guard as needed.
For employment, Swedish citizenship, a driver's license for passenger cars, a clean drug test, and a security clearance with a background check according to the Security Protection Act are required.
The Coast Guard participates in overseas missions and international operations. Therefore, the position includes an obligation to serve abroad when required for the operation.
