We are located in the newly built IT building near Stora Holmen, where we work together with colleagues who all deal with IT issues. We have nice premises, great colleagues, and good conditions for collaboration. The Server Operations department consists of about 20 employees who jointly are responsible for the operation, management, and development of infrastructure and application operations within Region Örebro County.
The infrastructure operations include virtual and physical servers, storage and backup systems, monitoring, and load balancing. The environment is distributed between Windows, Unix, and Linux.

Region Service's broad operations help facilitate work for everyone within Region Örebro County. The IT area is one of the largest IT workplaces in the county with about 150 employees. We are responsible for coordinating, managing, and leading IT development in Region Örebro County. System Technician IT in VMware, Backup, and Recovery
Job ResponsibilitiesThis position is aimed at infrastructure operations focusing on VMware, backup, and recovery.
The role includes responsibility for the design, operation, management, and further development of the organization's virtualization and backup platforms. The tasks include, among other things:
- Installing, configuring, and upgrading VMware vSphere environments (ESXi, vCenter, clusters, and datastores)
- Responsible for backup and recovery solutions, including design, recovery testing, and capacity planning
- Working with storage integrations such as SAN, vSAN, and other storage solutions
- Troubleshooting and resolving incidents within virtualization, storage, and backup
- Planning and executing lifecycle management, maintenance, upgrades, and capacity expansions
We work partially across the infrastructure area, which means that other tasks may also occur. The role involves close collaboration with colleagues and the opportunity to take significant personal responsibility in the work.

QualificationsWe see you as a positive person who has a drive, is curious, and dares! You are a person who enjoys having responsibility and can work independently while also collaborating and working in a team with your colleagues.
We are looking for someone with several years of experience in operations within VMware, backup, and recovery in a larger IT environment. You have a qualified vocational or university education in IT infrastructure or equivalent competence that the employer assesses as equivalent.
We see that you have very good knowledge in:
- VMware
- Backup and recovery solutions
- Windows Server
- Data storage, such as SAN and NAS solutions
- Swedish and English in speech and writing
Experience in one or more of the following areas is advantageous:
- Linux / Linux-based server systems
- Active Directory
- PowerShell or another scripting language, e.g., Python
- Automation and configuration management with Ansible
- Server hardware and data center infrastructure
