We are looking for a Support Worker

Are you curious about working in a smaller, dedicated team where a clear work model forms the basis for working with individuals who need support to understand and manage their collecting? We are now looking for a support worker who wants to help develop the work in the Collecting Team in Uppsala Municipality.

The Collecting Team consists of four employees and is a specialized part of housing support. We always work in pairs and provide support in the individuals' homes, with assignments throughout the municipality. The team has access to offices in three locations in Uppsala, and in our daily work, we travel in various ways – on foot, by bike, bus, or car.

Job Description

The Collecting Team provides targeted housing support for individuals with collecting issues, where the work is based on a specially developed work model tailored for the target group. As a support worker, you will provide support in the individuals' home environment and help them face the emotions that arise in connection with decluttering. The focus is on coaching the individual to develop helpful strategies that can ultimately contribute to reducing the amount of belongings in their home.

The work is characterized by a respectful and non-judgmental approach, where the individual's integrity is always at the center. You never touch any belongings without permission, and it is always the individual who decides what should happen to their things, with your support as a guide in the process.

Documentation is a natural part of the work, as is reflection with colleagues and reading English literature that is central to the team's methodology. This contributes to ensuring a professional and knowledge-based support.

The working hours are scheduled during the day, Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A care education with a focus on psychiatry, social treatment work, or another education that the employer deems relevant for the position.
  • Experience and knowledge of the target group of individuals with mental disabilities and social work.
  • Good knowledge of the Swedish language, both written and spoken.
  • Good knowledge of the English language.
  • A valid driver's license (B).
  • The ability to cycle, drive, walk, and take the bus in the job.

It is also meritorious if you have experience and knowledge of:

  • Motivational Interviewing (MI).
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
  • Experience as a support worker, where you have coached individuals towards change based on their own goals.

As a person, you are secure, stable, and have good self-awareness, with the ability to distinguish between the professional and the personal in interactions with others. You take responsibility for your tasks, work independently, and drive your processes forward in a structured manner. At the same time, you are flexible and can quickly adapt when circumstances change, with a positive attitude towards new perspectives and opportunities. You collaborate well with others and relate to people in a responsive and respectful manner, where you communicate clearly and contribute to resolving situations constructively. Furthermore, you have a well-developed empathetic ability – you can understand other people's situations and perspectives without taking over their feelings, which allows you to meet the target group in a professional and supportive way.
