School and Youth Librarian

The Culture and Leisure Administration is responsible for libraries, general culture, events, sports tourism, association support, and leisure activities, and works closely with the municipality's associations. The activities are governed by the Culture and Leisure Committee.

As a School and Youth Librarian, you will help shape a structured collaboration between the public library and school libraries in Skara Municipality, focusing on elementary school up to grade six.

The position is divided, with 30% focused on the public library and its children's section, and 70% on the school library. You will be part of a team working together in this area. You will play a crucial role in promoting reading and learning among our youth. Your work will involve:

• Creating and maintaining an inspiring library environment that encourages children and young people to explore literature and information sources.
• Planning and implementing engaging programs and activities with colleagues and school staff that stimulate interest in reading and learning.
• Providing support to teachers and students by offering advice and resources that connect to the school's curriculum and students' interests.
• Media supply tailored to the needs of the target group.
• Building relationships with students to understand their needs and help them develop a lifelong love for books and knowledge.
• Reception duties and other common tasks at the public library.
• Contributing to the development and management of the public library's children's section.

Who are you?

As our new School and Youth Librarian, you are a key person in inspiring and supporting our younger generation. You are confident in literature communication and reading promotion and have a good ability to convey this to both individuals and groups. Qualifications

We are looking for an engaged School and Youth Librarian who is passionate about guiding and inspiring! To succeed in this exciting role, you should have:

• A degree in library and information science, or other equivalent education.
• Experience working with children and youth, preferably within schools or libraries.
• A creative and pedagogical approach that promotes reading enthusiasm and information-seeking.
• The ability to collaborate with teachers and school staff to integrate library resources into teaching.
• Knowledge of children's and youth literature as well as current trends in library operations.
• Knowledge in the area of media and information literacy.
• Developed communication skills to engage and motivate students.
• A valid driver's license (B).
