Summer Temporary Position as Treatment Assistant at SiS
The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care, SiS, is an authority responsible for individually tailored compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with substance abuse. SiS also implements secure youth care. We do this in youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse across the country. At SiS, your work life will be an exciting challenge. Regardless of where in our organization you work or what position you hold, you help create life-changing transformations.
SiS youth home Brättegården is located just outside Vänersborg. We receive non-compulsory school-age girls with psychosocial issues, mental health problems, as well as criminal behavior and substance abuse.
Job Description
Take the opportunity to try an interesting summer temporary position as a treatment assistant at SiS.
The goal of your assignment is to motivate young people to new and less risky ways of living. As a treatment assistant, you will help ensure that the routines in the department function as they should. You play a significant role in providing stability and security for the youth, and you are responsible for the foundation of daily life, including meaningful activities, cleaning, cooking, and more. You contribute to maintaining safety in the institution according to our routines.
Together with your team of dedicated colleagues, such as treatment educators and treatment coordinators, you have the opportunity to achieve good results and contribute to change. The job is often demanding but also stimulating, joyful, and varied. Our vision is to be a place for change, which permeates our approach, engagement, and attitude.
Our Departments
In the treatment departments, staff work with the individual treatment plan of the youth. As a summer temporary worker, you support your team with everything in daily life so that skills training, structured treatment activities, and program operations can be carried out. We have both traditional treatment departments and treatment departments focused on substance abuse.
In our specially reinforced departments (SFA), girls with autism spectrum disorders and/or intellectual disabilities, as well as other psychiatric issues, live here and require specially adapted care and treatment. The goal is to create safety, functioning relationships, and find strategies that enable the girls to cope with life based on their existing conditions.
As part of the treatment for transition, there is an open department. Here, the focus is on helping the youth maintain their acquired skills by practicing in open settings.
Qualifications
You should have:
- At least a 2-year post-secondary education at a folk high school or vocational college (KY/YH) or other education equivalent to this. The education should be focused on social work, social pedagogy, behavioral science, or another relevant field.
- Experience working with people in vulnerable life situations, e.g., work in psychiatry or LSS care.
- Driver's license B
- Good Swedish language skills in speech and writing
Your personal suitability is key to life-changing transformation. Therefore, you need to have a good ability to create engagement and participation. Equally important is that you have a positive view of people, great empathy, and the ability to create good therapeutic relationships. You have good communication skills and can remain calm even in pressured situations. You also have the ability to collaborate with others and are willing to share your knowledge with colleagues.
*Exceptions to the requirement for at least a two-year post-secondary education may be made in individual cases if there are special reasons according to Chapter 5, Section 4 of the Social Services Ordinance (2025:468).
