The Gymnasium and Adult Education Administration is seeking a school social worker for Tingvallagymnasiet in Karlstad.

Tingvallagymnasiet is a school with a long tradition, having provided education for over 150 years. The school is located in several beautiful, culturally and historically interesting buildings in the heart of Karlstad. The school offers both preparatory programs and vocational programs, as well as adapted upper secondary school. This allows students with different interests and goals to find something that suits them. The school provides international opportunities and focuses on entrepreneurship and business. Furthermore, it is important for us that Tingvallagymnasiet is a safe school with a respectful environment.

Responsibilities

The social team will work proactively and preventively with a focus on strengthening students' attendance at school, especially for students with problematic school absenteeism. Through early and coordinated interventions, the goal is to increase attendance and thereby strengthen students' achievement of goals. As a school social worker, your task is to work with the principal and existing student health to shape the team and organize the group's work from the ground up. You will also lead the group in daily work. The basic idea is that the social team should function as a link between the school's internal working groups (such as work teams, student health teams, etc.) and be a natural channel to external actors such as social services, police, etc., where you largely act as the school's representative. The internal and external work is intended to contribute to safety, increased attendance, and support for students with unfavorable development at an early stage.

Qualifications

We prefer that you have an academic education in social work, behavioral science, or another relevant field, or equivalent experience. Experience working in social services, student health, or similar activities is an advantage. If you have also worked in other parts of the social or care sector, we see it as a positive.

Since the position involves building the operation from the ground up, it is an advantage if you have documented experience in driving work independently and taking responsibility in development or building processes, preferably from a holistic perspective.

You have the ability to work independently with courage and a solution-focused approach. To succeed in the role, you also need to have good collaboration skills and enjoy working with others. You create and maintain good relationships with both colleagues and students, and communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.

Furthermore, you are structured and have a good ability to plan and organize your work effectively. Your creativity contributes to developing new ideas and solutions that strengthen the operation.
