Recreation Leader Wanted for Our Youth Center in the City

Are you passionate about working with youth and creating meaningful recreational activities? We are now looking for an engaged recreation leader for our youth center in the City.

We are looking for someone with a strong youth focus who wants to help develop safe, inclusive, and inspiring meeting places for young people. With us, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the daily lives of youth through relationship-building work, creative activities, and exciting projects.

Job Responsibilities

You will meet youth with a coaching approach to support their ideas and projects, guiding them towards a meaningful leisure time and a rich cultural life.

Within the youth center unit, you will also collaborate with other meeting places and youth centers for both large and small events as well as during school breaks. Collaboration with other actors, both municipal services and civil society, is an important part of the role.

Your schedule will include regular daytime, evening, and weekend shifts.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

• Has a recreation leader degree from a folk high school or another relevant post-secondary education combined with experience working with our target group (youth aged 12–18).
• Has good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written.

It is an advantage if you:

• Have previously worked with our target group (youth aged 12–18).
• Have documented knowledge of norm criticism, gender equality, and participation.
• Have training in a coaching approach.
• Have been involved voluntarily in any activity or association.

As a person, you are structured and good at organizing things, both independently and with others. You spread warmth and joy and show that you care about the visitors of the youth center. Additionally, you are a good listener. You have good collaboration skills and find it easy to connect with new people, both youth and other professionals. It is also important to us that you are someone who wants to do things together with the youth who visit the center. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

The Workplace - Youth Center Unit

Under the youth administration's youth center unit, about 20 youth centers operate around the city, aimed at the target group aged 12–18. The youth centers offer meaningful leisure activities for young people and contribute to providing children and youth with opportunities to be included and participate in their leisure time.
