Description

Citizen guides are an initiative that works to reach more residents with important community information and strengthen local democratic participation.

Today, we have citizen guides working in three of our city areas (Hisingen, Nordost, Sydväst)

Job Responsibilities

As a Citizen Guide, you will work to be a communication channel between the City of Gothenburg's operations and the residents. In this recruitment, we are looking for one citizen guide for Nordost at 25% and one for Sydväst at 15%. In 2026, there will be a strong focus on working with voter empowerment tasks. This means you will have meetings, conversations/dialogues with residents in public environments and contexts.

Your responsibilities include:

1. distributing information and talking with residents in squares and streets.
2. working proactively to reach the target group
3. leading or participating in activities that take place in the local area, for example on a market day
4. listening to and conveying residents' perspectives, needs, and suggestions

You will be part of a team with several citizen guides and have a local coordinator to support the planning of the work.

Qualifications

For the position, it is required that you have a strong interest and commitment to community and democratic issues. You must have a broad network and good connections in the city area of Sydväst or Nordost. For example, by being or having been active in an association, volunteer work, or any civil society organization working in the area. We prefer that you live in Nordost or Sydväst or have a close connection to the area in another way. You speak Swedish and English fluently, and if you have other language skills, we consider that an advantage.

To perform the tasks well, it is important that you are communicative and can inform clearly verbally. Additionally, you should be comfortable in social contact areas, both informal and formal. You take responsibility for decisions made, understand what it means to represent a municipal operation, and can convey uncomfortable messages when necessary. It is also important that you can collaborate with others to perform tasks and achieve the goals set. By being interested and creating understanding for others, you contribute to a respectful work environment. You are also service-oriented and have an interest, willingness, and ability to help others, and you strive to find solutions.
