Summer Job as a Social Welfare Officer in Health and Care

Do you want to apply your knowledge in social work practically and make a real difference for people in their daily lives? As a social welfare officer with us, you will have a meaningful summer job where you meet people in various life situations and help them receive the right support based on their needs.

We are looking for social welfare officers for the decision unit within health and care for the summer. The positions are summer jobs starting as soon as possible by agreement and ending at the end of August.

YOUR ROLE

As a social welfare officer, you are responsible for investigating and making decisions about services according to the Social Services Act. The work involves processing applications, having dialogues with individuals, and conducting home visits when necessary. You will also be in contact with relatives and collaborate with both internal operations and external actors.

The assignment involves independent work where you plan your day based on current cases, while also being part of a team where collaboration and support are integral to the way of working. During the summer, you contribute to ensuring that the processing runs smoothly even during the vacation period and that cases are handled in a legally secure and professional manner.

YOUR COMPETENCE AND EXPERIENCE

We are looking for someone with a degree in social work or who is studying to become a social worker and has completed at least 5 semesters of the program. Since home visits are part of the assignment, you need to have a valid driver's license.

You express yourself clearly and professionally in Swedish, both in speech and writing, and have a good understanding of the legislation governing the work, especially the Social Services Act.

It is an advantage if you have experience from the operations that you will collaborate with and make decisions for as a social welfare officer, such as home care, nursing homes, and day activities. It is also beneficial if you are comfortable working in digital systems and have good general computer skills.

To succeed in this role, you need to be able to work in a structured manner and plan your work well, even when you have multiple parallel cases. You are confident in yourself and your assessments, even in situations where decisions may be questioned. In meetings with people in various life situations, you are considerate, attentive, and show respect and understanding. At the same time, you easily collaborate with others and contribute to a non-prestigious work climate focused on common goals.

YOUR NEW WORKPLACE

With us, you will be part of the decision unit within health and care – an engaged team of about 30 employees. Here, you will meet a stable and experienced workgroup where many have worked for a long time, and where collaboration and knowledge exchange are a natural part of everyday life.

We operate from the City Hall in Skellefteå and work activity-based. Working hours are during the day, Monday to Friday.
