ABOUT THE JOB

We are now looking for a social worker responsible for foster care children for the children and family unit at the social services in Lycksele Municipality.

The unit consists of social workers divided into groups for investigation and intervention, foster care, and reception and family law. Everyone in the unit works together towards the same goal, focusing on the best interests of the child.

The work as a social worker in the foster care group primarily involves supporting children placed outside their own homes. This includes recruiting, assessing, and supervising foster homes and collaborating with the network surrounding the child, especially the biological parents. You work to ensure that the child's needs are met and that the placement is as safe and sustainable as possible. In many situations, you will meet children, youth, and their networks in both everyday and more challenging moments, contributing a calm and professional demeanor. This is a job where you truly get to use your entire skill set – and where your commitment makes a concrete difference for children and youth. In the role of social worker, it is important to build good and long-term relationships with the children and youth who are placed.

You will be part of a work group together with other caseworkers, several of whom have extensive experience in social services. We highly value collegial supervision and use it daily. You will also have external supervision continuously. Within the framework of the position, you will be offered regular professional development for the area of operations, both general and based on your specific wishes. The job also requires you to be structured and able to handle administrative tasks. A valid driver's license and driving experience are required for the position.
