The Disability Care Services in Umeå Municipality aims to be a resource that liberates and strengthens people's ability to live an independent life through proximity and interaction.

Porfyrvägen is a service residence according to LSS, focusing on intellectual disabilities. Six individuals live here in their own apartments, of varying ages and with different care needs. We tailor support according to the individual.

We are now looking for a support assistant for our operations!

Your tasks

You will guide and support individuals with intellectual disabilities in their daily lives. You provide individual, social, and practical support to enable and utilize the individuals' own abilities, thereby creating conditions for independence. You work to make individuals active participants in their daily lives and have a meaningful leisure time and/or occupation. Your work includes personal care, heavy lifting, practical tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and laundry. You will also participate in leisure activities such as cinema visits, training, walks, and more.

There are pets at the workplace, a cat and a bird, so you should not be allergic.

Working hours are scheduled for days/evenings, weekends, and on-call. Coordination occurs between our operations within disability care.

About you

As a person, you are secure, curious, and engaged. You have good collaboration skills and a professional approach towards users, colleagues, and other networks around our users. It is important that you share our values, work towards set goals, and take responsibility for the common work environment. It is also important that you are proactive and enjoy working with changes as we are undergoing significant development and change in the organization. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

To communicate with users, relatives, and colleagues, write and access care documentation, and obtain medication delegation, you need to have good knowledge of the Swedish language in both spoken and written form.

Requirements:

• Care and nursing program, child and leisure program, social work program, or another education deemed equivalent by the employer.
• Experience in care and nursing work, e.g., in LSS housing or elderly care.

Desirable:

• Experience working with individuals with disabilities.
• Experience with motivational interviewing (MI) and independent living (ESL).
• Experience with low-affect responses.
