The Disability Care Services in Umeå Municipality aims to be a resource that liberates and strengthens people's ability to live an independent life through proximity and interaction.

Kompassgatan 4 is a group home for individuals with intellectual disabilities, accommodating six people, located in the scenic Tavleliden. Each resident has their own apartment and receives support and assistance from staff based on their individual needs. The living environment is one where respect and humanity are paramount, allowing individuals to develop at their own pace.

We are now looking for a Support Assistant!

Your Responsibilities

You will guide and support individuals with intellectual disabilities in their daily lives. You will provide individual, social, and practical support to enable and utilize the individuals' own abilities, thereby creating conditions for independence. You will work to make individuals active participants in their daily lives and have a meaningful leisure time and/or occupation. Your tasks will include personal care, practical chores such as cooking, cleaning, and laundry.

You will also participate in leisure activities such as cinema visits, walks, and training. A good physical condition is required as you will be active in your work, accompanying clients in group training, cycling, and floorball.

Working hours are scheduled for days/evenings, weekends, and on-call. Coordination occurs between our services within Disability Care.

About You

As a person, you are secure, curious, and engaged. You have good collaboration skills and a professional approach towards clients, colleagues, and other networks surrounding our clients. It is important that you share our values, work towards set goals, engage in continuous improvements, and take responsibility for the shared work environment. Personal suitability will be given great importance.

To communicate with clients, relatives, and colleagues, write and access care documentation, and receive medication delegation, you must have good knowledge of the Swedish language in both spoken and written form.

Requirements:

  • Completion of the Health and Care program, Child and Leisure program, Social Work program, or other education deemed equivalent by the employer
  • Experience working in health and care, e.g., in LSS housing or elderly care

Meritorious:

  • Experience with diabetes treatment, personal or through work
  • Experience with communication aids such as AAC and clear pedagogical methods
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities
