Support Assistant to the Staffing Team in Social Psychiatry
Do you want to work in an organization where relationships, collaboration, and development are at the center? In social psychiatry, we work to ensure that people with mental health issues and disabilities can have a functioning everyday life – at home, at work, and in their leisure time. We are now looking for a support assistant for our Staffing Team. With us, you will have a meaningful role, an engaged team, and the opportunity to make a real difference. Every day. For all of Skellefteå.
YOUR ROLE
Social psychiatry provides support to individuals who need varying degrees of help to live an independent and meaningful life. Your most important task is to strengthen the individual's participation and self-determination. The work involves providing support in personal care and daily routines, planning and carrying out activities together with the individual, and working based on clear goals and implementation plans. You will document and follow up on interventions and collaborate with relatives, resource persons, authorities, and other stakeholders.
We always plan support based on the individual's needs – neither too much nor too little. It is about creating structure, security, and social community, while encouraging each person to develop their own abilities. You will be part of our staffing team and work with several group and service residences in the central area and in Kåge. This means you need to be flexible and quickly adapt to different workplaces, working methods, and working hours.
Your main placement is within social psychiatry, but we work with a holistic perspective within Support and Service. This means that when the needs of the organization require it, you may also work in other areas, such as LSS housing or personal assistance. For us, it is important that we collectively take responsibility for the whole – and that the individual is always met by the right competence and a professional approach, regardless of the area of operation. Working hours are scheduled for days, evenings, and weekends, and you will be booked by the Staffing Unit for support and service. You need to be able to travel independently between workplaces.
YOUR COMPETENCE AND EXPERIENCE
We are looking for someone who has knowledge of and understanding of mental health issues and disabilities, as well as how it affects the individual's daily life. It is an advantage if you have experience working in social psychiatry, have encountered individuals with aggressive or problematic behaviors, or have worked with comorbidity, such as substance abuse.
To be considered for the position, you need to be secure and stable. You handle stress and unforeseen situations constructively, maintain calm even when the pace is high, and face setbacks with a professional attitude. You are relationship-building and naturally take the initiative in meetings with others. You step forward when needed, build trust, and easily create new contacts – both with users, colleagues, and external partners.
You have a genuine considerate approach. You listen actively, empathize with others' situations, and show respect in every meeting. Your approach is characterized by empathy and clarity. Collaboration is a natural part of your working method. You are unpretentious, adapt when the situation requires it, and contribute to solutions that benefit the whole. For you, the common mission is always more important than personal prestige.
You express yourself well in Swedish, both verbally and in writing. Skellefteå Municipality is a Finnish and Sámi administrative municipality, therefore knowledge of Finnish or Sámi is an advantage. Sign language is also an asset in our operations. We place great importance on personal suitability.
The position is subject to a requirement for a criminal record extract according to law. Before a possible job offer, you must present an extract from the criminal record for work with elderly persons or persons with disabilities. You are responsible for ordering the correct extract from the Police Authority.
YOUR NEW WORKPLACE
Within Support and Service, we work to ensure that people can live a good life – regardless of their circumstances. We do this by combining competence, commitment, and a trust-based working method. With us, you will become part of an organization that develops in line with Skellefteå's societal transformation. This means you will work in a forward-looking municipality where we dare to think innovatively, collaborate across organizational boundaries, and continuously develop our working methods.
You will have a meaningful and varied job, colleagues who support and grow together, opportunities for professional development, and secure employment conditions with benefits such as wellness grants and occupational health care. There is room to grow – both in your professional role and as a person.
GOOD TO KNOW
We recruit based on competence and focus on your experience, knowledge, and potential. Instead of a personal letter, you will answer some selection questions and attach an updated CV.
