Process Engineer to Kretslopp and Water

In Trelleborg, we work together for a growing successful community where it is good to live. Our 61 villages and 21 districts are creative meeting places that bubble with life. Here we want things, tell about them, and come just as we are. This makes us welcome others in the same generous and curious way.

Welcome to take your place on the journey!

The Technical Service Administration is Trelleborg Municipality's enabling administration. We are a safe, secure, and value-creating resource that works proactively, efficiently, and sustainably together with those who live, work, and spend time in Trelleborg Municipality. The administration's five departments have overall responsibility in various areas to plan, manage, and develop the public space. We do this, for example, by maintaining the municipality's public places, waste management, sewage management, water supply, and infrastructure. We also deliver internal services such as operation and maintenance of the municipality's facilities, cleaning, system management, and IT support.

Since everything Trelleborg Municipality does is based on our values of openness, respect, and responsibility, it is important and crucial that these values are as self-evident to you as they are to us in our work.

The Workplace

Kretslopp and Water is a department within the Technical Service Administration in Trelleborg Municipality. In the department, we are about 80 employees who together ensure that our subscribers receive good drinking water, that sewage is treated before it reaches the recipient, and that waste management works. The department includes, among others, three environmental engineers.

As a process engineer, you will belong to the sewage production unit, which is one of a total of six units in Kretslopp and Water. The unit is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the municipality's two sewage treatment plants - Sjöviksverket and Smygehamn sewage treatment plant - as well as about 60 sewage pumping stations. Our workplace is located at Sjöviksverket in Trelleborg, and in the unit, there are a unit manager, process engineer, project coordinator, foreman, and operations technician. We are a small unit and work closely together to continuously improve and develop both our facilities and our operations.

The sewage production unit is in an exciting phase as the reconstruction of Smygehamn sewage treatment plant was completed in the spring of 2024, and the design of the new Sjöviksverket is in full swing, with construction start planned for the spring of 2026. Sjöviksverket will be modernized and rebuilt over the coming years, and you will therefore have good opportunities to influence your future workplace.

We look forward to receiving your application.

Job Responsibilities

As a process engineer, you will be responsible for the ongoing process control of the municipality's two sewage treatment plants. You will plan and carry out sampling, analysis work, and ongoing monitoring of the facilities' functions in collaboration with the unit's other employees. You will also be responsible for the unit's two operational laboratories.

You will manage contact with an accredited laboratory, prepare materials for the unit's environmental reporting, and initiate and implement process improvement measures in our treatment plants together with other staff. In the role of process engineer, you will also work on the development of the facilities' SCADA systems.

The position of process engineer combines practical and theoretical work; your workday will be spent in the facilities, in the operational laboratory, and in the office. You will work closely with the operations staff on issues related to process control, process optimization, and self-monitoring, but you are also expected to independently plan, execute, and develop your ongoing tasks.

In the unit's projects, you will collaborate with the department's and unit's project coordinators on process engineering issues as well as on planning and coordinating work in our facilities that may affect process control and self-monitoring.

Working hours are scheduled from 07:00 to 16:00.

Qualifications

You have a relevant university degree, such as an engineering degree or other education focused on water and sewage.

We are looking for someone with at least two years of professional experience in the water and sewage industry - preferably from municipal operations - but experience working with process engineering from consulting or contracting is also of interest.

Based on the content of the position, good knowledge of Swedish, both written and spoken, is required.

A minimum B driver's license for a manual transmission vehicle is a requirement.

It is strongly meritorious if you have previous experience of practical work with process control of sewage treatment plants (planning, sampling, analysis work, evaluation of analysis data, and other process engineering data), have experience working in control and monitoring systems, and have good knowledge of control and regulation technology.

In your work, you are curious, meticulous, and structured. You work systematically and methodically with problem-solving, you have an easy time identifying and understanding connections, and you can handle complex issues. You thrive on routines but can easily adjust when unexpected events occur.

As a person, you are practical, responsible, and unpretentious, and you do not hesitate to step in where needed. You value your colleagues' different competencies and know that the best results are achieved through collaboration, both within the unit and with other parts of Kretslopp and Water. Since the role of process engineer has many contact points, both internally and externally, it requires you to have a very good ability to collaborate and communicate.
