We are now looking for an experienced Embedded Developer who wants to work with advanced system development in a technically complex environment at one of our clients.

This is a role for you who want to combine low-level programming, real-time development, and secure communication in an industrial environment with high demands on quality, stability, and performance.

About the assignment

You will be part of a technical specialist team working on the development and further development of advanced automation solutions within Distributed Control Systems.

The development takes place close to hardware and operating systems, with a strong focus on robust real-time functionality, secure communication, and system stability.

You will work in an environment where quality, testability, and long-term sustainability are crucial.

About the role

As an Embedded Developer, you will work with the design, development, and troubleshooting of embedded systems in a complex and distributed architecture.

You will work with:

• Development in C++ • RTOS-based systems (e.g., VxWorks) • Tasks, semaphores, and concurrent programming • Ethernet-based communication (TCP/IP, sockets) • OPC UA • Secure communication • Debugging and troubleshooting with tools like Trace32 • Analysis of crash dumps and bug investigations • Unit and functional testing • Build systems (cMake) • CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps

The development environment includes:

• VxWorks • Linux and container-based solutions • Git, Visual Studio, TFVC • Azure DevOps pipelines • SCA and Klocwork

 

Who we are looking for

We are looking for a structured and analytical embedded developer with a strong understanding of real-time systems and distributed architecture.

You have experience in:

• C++ in complex and performance-critical systems • RTOS and concurrency issues • Low-level debugging and troubleshooting • Communication protocols and network programming • Unit and functional testing • XML, JSON, XSD, and parsing

It is a merit if you also have:

• Experience with AC 800M or other ABB automation products • Domain knowledge in Distributed Control Systems • Knowledge of IEC 61131-3 • Experience with safety-critical or industrial systems
