We are looking for a consultant with strong investigative and analytical skills for an assignment in municipal urban development. The assignment involves conducting an area analysis in Södra Almgården to understand the relationship between housing, social life, and the built environment in connection with planned densification. The focus is to map the current situation and identify future potentials – as well as to develop recommended measures that can contribute to strengthened social cohesion.

The deliverable is a report with recommendations and visual materials. The analysis should particularly consider the needs of children, the elderly, and people with disabilities, as well as highlight potentials and shortcomings related to social cohesion, safety, and quality of life.

• Conduct area analysis linking social life to existing and planned built environment.
• Provide historical and cultural background and analyze nearby destinations, connections, and barriers for movement.
• Analyze facade structures, ground floor functions, commercial/non-commercial functions, and daily activity.
• Map green structure and stay qualities through typology analyses, including character-creating elements, landmarks, and material descriptions.
• Conduct light/dark analysis (daylight/shadow and lighting) related to safety experiences and stay.
• Conduct a “stand-sit-walk” analysis to highlight social and functional opportunities in outdoor environments.
• Analyze flows and accessibility for walking, cycling, and overall traffic flows, including places where behaviors deviate from design.
• Plan and conduct demographic analyses and integrate with data from safety measurements.
• Plan and conduct surveys to households in the area and in-depth interviews with children/youth, the elderly, and people with disabilities as well as local actors.
• Conduct observational studies of how outdoor environments are used at different times and children's play and movement patterns.
• Develop questionnaires and interview guides, analyze and compile results, and formulate recommended measures.
• Hold regular check-ins and meetings with the client during the process.
• Deliver main report (PDF), a shorter summary, and educational illustrations and tables tailored for target groups within urban planning.

• Experience in qualitative place analyses.
• Experience and competence in citizen dialogue in connection with urban development.
• Trained/practicing landscape architect.
• At least three years of experience in independent work within a field relevant to sustainable urban development.

• Experience with assignments for municipal clients.
