The Department of Food and Nutrition Science develops knowledge for a healthy world through food and sports. Our mission is to conduct world-class education and research in food science and sports science. The research at IKI is characterized by a clear educational connection, multidisciplinary collaborations, and close contact with the outside world. The main focus of the department's research is to develop and disseminate scientific knowledge and professional competence that can effectively promote sustainable habits regarding sports, physical activity, and food.
Within the department, there is the research environment Food & Meals, and a strategic research area within this environment is “Food Related Learning.” The Department of Food and Nutrition Science is now seeking a postdoctoral researcher in food science for the current strategic research area at a full-time capacity of 100% for 24 months.

Subject Description
Food science is a subject at the doctoral level focusing on people's interaction with food, studied from an interdisciplinary perspective. The significance of food in health promotion and disease prevention is central, but aspects such as the environment and performance are also addressed. Food science includes studies on individuals' and food managers' behaviors, choices, and habits. This can pertain to both meals and the diet as a whole. Learning, change processes, and people's thoughts, attitudes, and perceptions of food are also important starting points in the research.
Job Responsibilities
The job responsibilities include:
- Writing scientific publications in food science.
- Writing applications for external funding from national research councils and the EU.
- Assisting in and contributing to the implementation of various research projects.
- Conducting teaching in food science.
Employment
The position is a fixed-term employment for 24 months at full-time, 100%, with placement at the Department of Food and Nutrition Science. Start date: May 4, 2026, or by agreement.
